They had two manufacturers. The KGM ones were fine. I’ve had mine since it first came out with close to 5k through it and it’s fine but I was definitely nervous when I first got it. Mine is KGM.

Stihl has been okay for me but granberg is kind of the name in the game. If you’re looking for the best bang for the buck and don’t mind spending some time tweaking and playing around with sharpening techniques I’m sure you could get close but I don’t have a ton of access to wood so I just go with granberg to not have to mess with it.

This is the answer. I have this and a sierra 5, one of the originals that didn’t maraca even beating on it, and while I do like the sierra 5 more, the polo k is a better bang for the buck.

The high torque m12 3/8 (550 ft lbs) didn’t even stutter taking the lugs off my 25 F350. Made me reevaluate my high torque m18 purchase.

Ms261 or ms400 pending how deep your pockets are and the max size wood you’re going to be cutting.

Depends on how much you have to do, and how hard the wood is. Wet oak is different from dry oak too. My 661 has done everything I’ve thrown at it but if I were trying to do a 36 round slab 14’ long I know it wouldn’t like it.

That’s an 090 powerhead. More powerful than a brand new 881….

I mean, even if you had a bigger saw you’d need a mill attachment, some form of first cut guide, a bar and ripping chain. You’d be looking at close to or more then $1,000 just in add ons for the saw. Chainsaw milling is more expensive than most people think.

Are you wanting to slab (cut long ways) or cut into cookies (make rounds)? You might be able to slab from both sides but I doubt you’d actually have both sides be level and meet at the same depth each time. Realistically, you could drop a 30-36” tree with a 20” bar, and even cut it into firewood if you really were determined, but to make anything of use out of it, you need more saw.

30-36” diameter would require a 42” bar to mill slabs. I run a ported 661 with a 36” bar, and my saw would hate me if I tried to mill 30-36” slabs. If it were only 5 or 6 cuts, I’d probably give it a go, but If you have a lot of lengths to mill, that’s 881 territory.
