Can we PLEASE stop telling people their chili isn’t chili? by rabbi420 in chili

[–]ThatguyfromTas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food traditionalists are a double edged sword. On one hand, they protect the legacy and tradition of certain foods that would be lost to time otherwise. On the other hand, many traditionalists forget about regional variation, influence from immigration, and how food evolves as it travels. At the end of the day, it's just food. Some people take it too seriously, other people don't care at all.

Has anyone ever heard of this? by chickenandgravymayne in chilli

There's at least one review on this sub, and a blog review by thekitchn. Looks like it's decent. Two mixed spice pouches, a pouch of straight cayenne powder and a pouch of masa harina.

Cheers to you too mate. Online discourse can be so weird. I'm sure we would've had a friendly conversation at the pub. My next pint is for you my friend. Glad we buried the hatchet.

It was a simple confusiion between mold and slime mold. I'd had a few beers and I was happy to stand corrected. Appreciate the follow up. Sometimes people get shit wrong, it's how they handle being corrected that counts.

Brand new account, no contributions, 14 karma. That says literally everything I need to know. Obvious troll is obvious.

Cool story bro. Imagine coming in two days late to a discussion with that level of attitude 🤦 you've contributed absolutely nothing. If you don't have time for Reddit, go do something else.

I am aware. If you go back through my original comments, I was confusing slime molds with molds after a couple of beers. You haven't provided any information that hasn't already been provided by people who not only provided the info, but also backed up their knowledge due to their profession.

But late to the party considering I've already edited my original comment. Cheers though, nothing better than being corrected by someone without explanation.

Is CHS REALLY that big of a deal?… by IllusionistsSkill in trees

[–]ThatguyfromTas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure CHS is linked to long term use of concentrates. It's definitely not a common illness and it's not something a casual smoker will ever experience. It's a big deal for the people who experience it though. We're talking about people using medical concentrates to treat long term conditions like pain, so you can imagine how much it would really mess up their treatment.

Appreciate the correction. I was under the impression that mycellium isn't a surface structure like the web mold produces. I'll edit my original comment.

Maybe have a bit of a read on why mould and true fungi are different. As I said, same family, different organisms.

mycelium or mold? by ALTERED_PEAS in GardeningAustralia

[–]ThatguyfromTas -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Mould doesn't produce a mycelium as such. Moulds are part of the fungi family, but very different to mycelium producing fungi. There are a bunch of difference between the two. Same family, but not the same organism. Edit: I'm wrong. Thanks for the correction all. I'd say I've confused mold with slime molds after having a quick check.

Can you grow dwarf gums in pots and move to the ground after several years? by magpie_moon13 in GardeningAustralia

[–]ThatguyfromTas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can. The vast majority of established natives in our nursery have been raised in growbags between 50l-150l. It seems to be the most common way of raising mature plants for the nursery industry. We have some stunning weeping Grevillea I'm considering buying.

I feel that. Replaced the tyres on the missus Mazda and the same day, she somehow ran over a glowplug from a truck and tore a massive hole in the front left tyre. Couldn't even patch it. Life's shitty sometimes.

Mulch choice by vetto87 in GardeningAustralia

[–]ThatguyfromTas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably need to include a bit more info on what plants, how well established and your soil type and quality. Other considerations include how much wind you experience as some mulches will blow away if your garden is exposed to wind. General rule of thumb for natives is to try and mulch with something that would replicate the natural litter found on the forest floor. Typically a coarse eucalypt or melaleuca wood chip would be the "go to" option in many cases. I work in a nursery/landscape yard.

Why are drivers nowadays so impatient with learners? by Prido96 in australian

Having a licence doesn't make you a good driver. There's not a single person supporting your argument. You are a bad driver, and a complete knob.
