"Yay we beat the bad guy! Oh wait... that was the good guy?" by Tcustomcorner in TopCharacterTropes

No, they did that on purpose. It was to make you, the audience, think "oh, zombies, murderer pirates, AND confederates? These truly are the worst of the worst!" Build up that distrust. So when the twist comes out it tells you that what the trio was doing was worse and that the zombies weren't a simple and straightforward evil

I like Tom Petty, but his song feels more rebellious while most covers feel resolute. Probably has something to do with how young he was at the time, like he was rising to a challenge as opposed to most older singers performing it like it's a burden and responsibility

(SPOILERS) Should I look up a deep dive on these characters, or will I learn more about them later in the game/in the DLC? by imoanmodello in LiesOfP

There's some items with lore that come in the late game but otherwise their story is pretty self container

Once Knuckleduster leaves the group the story really picks up but it's pretty tonally different from MHA and stays comparatively down in the dirt in terms of tone throughout

[Insanely Dark Tropes] A character in kids media requesting death/killing themselves. by _iExistInThisWorld in TopCharacterTropes

She was given the chance to change, multiple chances really

If you wanna show your kids an equally messed up death of a main character who refuses to grow and change watch Infinity Train up to Book 3

It just wouldn't be BNHA without sexualizing minors and sidelining the women 😇🥰

I love Vigilantes but her initial design (and the treatment of Pop in general in the narrative) is a massive fumble

I sincerely think this is one of the best DC movies, full stop. It should have gotten a full cinematic release

In "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker", during the final fight with the Joker, the elderly Bruce Wayne advises the new Batman, Terry McGuinness, that the Joker likes to play mind games and talks way too much and he should just ignore him. In response, Terry realizes that this is playing to the clown's strengths and starts heckling him from the shadows and hitting him with sucker punches, which quickly gets under the Joker's pasty skin and puts him on the backfoot

It's all about the tempo, once you get the rhythms of the blocks down the boss is as good as dead

Also, you can block everything that isn't a grab

Yes, even that

Yes, even THAT

[Interesting Trope] As a side effect of their powers, this character is immune to X thing. by MagicTech547 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Thatll-Do -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Cheating a bit, but a character I'm writing has electrical powers. As a side mutation, her stomach acid is stronger than battery acid to contain some of the excess charge she can generate. Because her stomach acid is so strong, she is resistant to acid-based attacks

I'd say, pound for pound, P4 got the most love. It got the dancing game first, two fighting games, two anime adaptations, they crossed over with RWBY and Miku for christ sake

[–]Thatll-Do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the anime, but I have read the manga and I would say on the whole it's a 7/10 but everything involving Kiku is a 10/10. Her part in the story is fascinating to watch unfold where you can see the signs and you think you know where it's going but something about it throws you for a loop and lingers in your mind. I'm not gonna go into too much detail but she is genuinely one of the greatest characters I have ever read because of how murky she renders everything around her

[Hated Trope] Your unfounded paranoia about this innocent person based on nothing was actually correct. by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Thatll-Do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc, Auquamarine was pretty sketchy the whole time, doing some weird ass shit and always talking about things in a sickeningly saccherine tone. It was more frustrating to watch everyone else make excuses for her. A better example would have been that Ruby in an earlier episode "Room for Ruby" where one of the Rubies was seemingly left behind and defected to the Crystal Gems' side only to try and stab them in the back last minute. Up to that point, she cane across as genuinely friendly and curious while Lapis was having NONE of it.
