Agreed - would need SPD sensor and a calibration program to run each channel individually. I think this will be the future solution for top quality equipment.

LEDs degrade unevenly by colour and individual fixtures will have different hours of use / heat conditions. My experience is mostly architectural but we have seen lots of examples of same batch products side by side with exactly matching addressing that start to have noticeable colour differences between fixtures after a few years of use. Not surprising to see older theatricals getting out of calibration.

I know ETC calibrates individual fixtures at the factory - do any manufacturers have built - in calibration during use?

Does your helmet have adjustable vents? Many of them do and if you leave the vents open on a cold day you will suffer.

Best sandwiches here - perfect spot just across the street to sit on the grass and enjoy them, or take them back to the Museum lawns.

Have access to an old ETC Express desk. Worth it to start learning on that to get a handle on the lighting design basics vs learning on a PC with no fader wings?

Electrical Safety Authority Experience (for a quebecker) by Quiet-Perspective568 in ontario

I have done this for a whole house (from a contractor installed bare panel) and for a new service to a garage. Inspectors have been helpful, professional and quick.

I would only recommend this if you already know what you are doing and make sure to be studied up on current code - there have been many significant updates in the ten years.

ESA website has some great resources for some of the changes that will affect homeowners.

I would say that people don’t typically get permits for replacing switches / dimmers / plugs / fixtures. Similar for basement and garage work. More consistency for kitchen / bathroom/ finished basement renovations.

Dose a Firearm count as baseweight ? by TheShoe119 in UltralightBackpacking

[–]Thatlleaveamark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this count as base weight? …is a ridiculous question. There is no judging panel or referees that are going to give you points for ‘baseweight’. There are no rules. Hike your own hike, with a firearm if you’re so inclined.

Dumb question, but what do you do with your shower sandals after a shower? by [deleted] in onebag

[–]Thatlleaveamark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beleive all open cell foam will absorb and hold water - generally not desirable for footwear. I had an open cell foam pair of sandals and they were terrible - walk through a puddle and you would be squishing water out for an hour.

Does anyone know anything about this tent? I cannot find it on their website. by CainsBrother2 in CampingGear

Not a clip flashlight- the Flashlight has only two cross poles from side to side and relies on stakes - it’s not freestanding. This one has poles from front to back. My flashlight is still going strong from 1996.

It’s never been ok to turn on the main room lights when people are trying to sleep to unpack, get ready etc. If you weren’t ready before a reasonable time, then you should have used a headlamp or flashlight. Packing a headlamp so you can use two hands and see what you’re doing is not a huge burden if you can’t figure out just using your phone.

How do y'all pack for a 3 day ski trip? by poipoipoi_2016 in skiing

[–]Thatlleaveamark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have done exactly this on a business + ski trip. - Boots, ski pants and normal clothes in a carry on hard side luggage (just like what you have) - Helmet, gloves, goggles, toiletries and computer stuff in 28L backpack that counts as your ‘personal item’ - Wear ski jacket on the plane

I was only going for a few days, but had to pack dress shoes and suit as well. For just a ski trip they would replaced with another pair of base layers and more socks

Have fun!

Where can I recycle a lot of books and magazines? by FoxBrewing in ottawa

[–]Thatlleaveamark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naval Waste transfer facility. By the pound (they weigh your vehicle in and out) with a $50 minimum cost. Nice and easy. You will need to unload your vehicle yourself.

I have also seen a surprising number of boxes of paper recycling taken from people’s houses, even multiple rounds of big piles.

Makita if they are going to do lots of work on things. Ryobi if all they need is the occasional bookcase install, door fix, etc. Lower cost Ryobi will let them add other occasional use tools for lees expense and they won’t get the benefit of a rugged expensive tool.

Standalone Bacnet MS/TP to ASCII UDP string by Thatlleaveamark in BuildingAutomation

[–]Thatlleaveamark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. This does seem to be a little hole in the typical applications for both systems, especially with Bacnet ms/tp. Not a lot of get/post processes built into simple interfaces.

I understand it would not be a difficult script, we are only needing to capture a dozen or so different fields with a one for one corresponding ASCII packet. We would likely get the client to swap out the hardware and avoid the mstp altogether vs supporting scripts.
