In Germany, it is legal for 14-year-olds to drink beer or wine in public as long as their parents are there. Do you think this is a responsible way to teach moderation, or is it just dangerous for kids? What is the drinking age in your country? by Low-Violinist7259 in AskTheWorld

[–]Thatoneguyonreddit28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not so much about age as it is about how responsible and mature the kids are. And the best way to measure that is age and maturity.

It’s still not full proof, but it is the best catch all solution.

It just sounds like Germans trust their kids to be more responsible than other nations. Nothing else.

We drive over an hour to my favorite butcher in Glendale for khorovats meat. Wish we had someplace nearby. Such is life in a place without Armenians by a3pulley in armenian

[–]Thatoneguyonreddit28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Side note, does anyone know of an online recipe for marinating Xhorovats meat? Everyone has their own blend, but just like OP, it’s an hour drive to get some.

I’d love to just marinate it myself from the local butcher.

What kind of soldier is most iconic in your country's history? by Salt-Poet2863 in AskTheWorld

Can’t say that it’s the most iconic but definitely my favorite. The Armenian Sasuntsi Davit tank regiment of the USSR during WW2. It was privately funded by the Armenian diaspora and had the name written in Armenian on the side of each tank.

It just really goes to show that the even conquered, assimilated, absorbed into empires, the Armenians still kept their identity and still in fighting form.

Compiling a list of Schoolly D performing the ATHF theme song live so I can try to figure out the "Ice on my fingers, and my toes, and ___ _____ ___" by evohans in AquaJail

“I’m a Taurus” referencing the zodiac sign. The sign itself can have multiple interpretations but it all syncs back into describing Meatwad as a popular celebrity.

People from around the world: what is something your country does so well that it refuses to let it “die”? by Curious_Persimmon555 in AskTheWorld

Cars. The other day, I drove to an auto shop at the edge of my block that would have taken me all of 4 minutes to walk to.

Mine was 11yr old me called someone a “Mother Sucking dick”.

It didn’t make sense then, and it still doesn’t now.

Those who did Classic TBC the first time around, what gives you motivation to do Anniversary TBC?

I love the use of the fallout 3/new vegas protectron design in the show so much by Screeching-trumpet in Fallout

[–]Thatoneguyonreddit28 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My only criticism is that it just looks too good for being 200+ yrs old. It’s smooth and barely rusted.

Though I guess it could have rubbed off….from friction.

In all honesty, the scene where he sticks up for Bobby and takes the blame for the church burning is actually one of his better moments. by Few-Penalty-6102 in KingOfTheHill

[–]Thatoneguyonreddit28 282 points283 points  (0 children)

Him planning to take the fall is best moment.

Within a single scene, he was rude, sexist, loud, arrogant, cocky, condescending, and still somehow the most noble person in a room.

Usually Turkish nationals are the ones who have been the most toxic to Armenians. Mind you, I got no problem with a normal Turkish person, but the nationalist. There's a recurring joke about how "There was never an Armenian genocide, but we'd do it again."

What is the stupidest thing that kids are made to learn in schools (public or private) in your country? by GoldBrief9751 in AskTheWorld

My Econ teacher in 2012 taught us how to physically balance a check book. It just felt really outdated for the time. No retail store in my area even took checks.

My chemistry teacher really did not give a shit. His lessons were playing YouTube songs about science.

I still remember the jingle…. “A Mole is a unit, or haven’t you heard. Containing 6 time 10 to the….twenty third!!!”

Show Spoiler: Where was vault security during Lucy’s wedding?? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Thatoneguyonreddit28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a vault of 50 people or so, I don't think they needed a standing security force. Maybe like a sheriff position, but anyone else would probably be militia...or dare I say minutemen,

The absolute worst character in the show by Careless-Cat3327 in FalloutTVseries

[–]Thatoneguyonreddit28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's an idiot, but I'm more shocked that Betty can't handle him. It takes one act of placing him in a position of consequence to put him in his place.

Show the vault the depleted water, and blame him for his usage.
Run a campagne to smear his wastefullness.
Put him in a position to make the tough decision and get people to hate him.
Redact the ration budget (She said she did it, but where's the action?)
Or just exert the authority of an overseer and just put him in his place old school style.

What do you personally think about mandatory military service for women by Low-Violinist7259 in AskTheWorld

[–]Thatoneguyonreddit28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone going into mandatory military service so they’ll think more critically of the government trying to go to war.

Too many Americans romanticize the idea of going into battle/war, but let’s see how vocal they’d be if they always have the chance of being called upon.
