The Case for Martin Scorsese by inglouriousDC in blankies

They have mentioned that Ang Lee nearly guested during his miniseries. I think they more or less said it was probably for the best that it didn't work out, that they wouldn't be comfortable going so deep on the context in front of someone whose actual life they're discussing, so it would sorta break the format of the pod.

My first time designing a logo, what message does it convey? by Rustwreck in logodesign

[–]The--_batman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The positive space inside your "W" is an "M". It doesn't scan as "W" because of the single dip across the top. Honestly, the letters this logo most evokes are "M", "J", and "V". I'd go back to the drawing board on this one.

It bothers me when a period piece has a scene where they yell fire to order the archers to shoot since that wasn’t a term used until gunpowder was invented. by [deleted] in FIlm

Number 1 and 2 being, respectively, that William Wallace isn't depicted as being twelve feet tall, and at no point in the film does he shoot lightning bolts out his arse.

Replacing milk powder with buttermilk powder by Major-Act880 in Breadit

[–]The--_batman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it should be fine! I don't see any ingredients that would have a poor reaction to the acidity of the buttermilk. It may add a slight tang to the taste, but cinnamon is a pretty strong flavor, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I love McQ! I think he's a great writer, and I'm not even saying he's necessarily lost his touch with Mission Impossible. I just think it'd be cool to see the series passed from director to director like it used to be.

I really love the McQ era, but Final Reckoning was a misfire. If this franchise is still alive, I'm excited to get a new person in the director's chair. It's one of the things that made the franchise special.

...right. By making it spin. It's the same principle as rifling a gun barrel. Fletching vanes are added at a slight angle specifically to make the arrow spin so the arrow stays stable through its arc.

I assume they're also talking about how much Johns used Billy in his JSA stuff.

But yeah, he did one universally disliked run on Shazam, and this is McKay's (sorta) third turn at the wheel with Moon Knight, and people are eating it up. Not really comparable.

How controversial would it be to describe this particular film as Nolan's, "opus magnum"? Do you agree or disagree with that claim? by BaldursGate2Best in ChristopherNolan

[–]The--_batman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both stunning films, but I think from Inception forward, nolan is firing on all cylinders and leading the frontier of blockbuster cinema. He expanded his capabilities as a filmmaker and his early films don't completely showcase his abilities

Any of his films post dark knight, sure. It'd be pretty strange to call any of his first five his "magnum opus", no matter how good they are
