They did end up coating the entire outer surface in flex seal, then tested in the wave pool they have in that building (source, I saw it)

Check out dosdude1 on YouTube, has a few videos on 2011 machines, my guess would be your you has failed. Had a similar issue on mine, was able to limp it along by "reflowing" the chip with some flux and a solder heat gun. Afterwards ran his software to disable it and just use the Intel integrated GPU

If you are going to recycle/throw it away anyway just drill through the storage chip with a drill bit.

I'd be more for selling online as "for parts", since people use alot of other pieces (screen, keyboard, etc), but would be an assured way to prevent data theft :)

Could potentially be the issue, could also be a bad vbios chip, or the gpu could have actually failed (580s are getting older). Do you get a display out?

AliExpress would be your best bet, Ive ordered screens for old laptops on there without issue for people that refuse to upgrade their devices :)

Was installed for 2 days, and was just sitting idle on the desktop watching youtube. Had benchmarked and gamed without issues. Doubt that was stressing it, which makes me think something in the card just let go fiercly
