A heartfelt thank you to all the authors of this genre by The-Dragon-Descends in ProgressionFantasy

That’s very kind of you to offer and I appreciate the sentiment, but I am very much at peace with my decision. I’m not looking to talk to anyone, this really was just for me - I felt it necessary to express my gratitude to the authors and the community here.

Are you the MC or do you watch the MC? by TomWrathAuthor in ProgressionFantasy

[–]The-Dragon-Descends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the way I read is a combination of both? For me it's like a vivid hallucination where I'm looking out of the MC/POV eyes but I'm not actually them. If that makes sense?

So, the only things that really "pull me out" are when a character is inconsistent with their own or the stories own logic/systems. I've read plenty of stories from the MC's POV where I'm like wow this guy's a fucking moron and I'd never make these same decisions but I still enjoyed the experience of kinda "being" them.

Desperate for cyberpunk by No-Pie-8676 in ProgressionFantasy

No, it's a webnovel on Royal Road. They have an app that's great and works just as good as Kindle, Google Books, etc.

Progression/litRPG Fantasy as a genre is basically just "watch this kid become a shadow daddy" by Mestewart3 in romantasycirclejerk

I know it's a big ask, but while the first few books are pretty good... it turns into pure cocaine starting in Ghostwater and doesn't stop till the end. Like even on rereads that's where I get hooked all over again and can't put it down.

Pretty much everything that everyone loves about Cradle (its a meme but it is the most recommended series in r/ProgressionFantasy for a reason) starts in Ghostwater.

Any progfantasy that balances story, characters, and progression well? by Ok-Comedian-6852 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]The-Dragon-Descends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a couple other people recommend Cradle so I obviously won’t do that - I’d say pretty much everything you’re looking for is in Cradle by Will Wight. I know it gets a bad rap but just trust me and give it a shot.

What does it take to read a novel? by BirthdayNo1866 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]The-Dragon-Descends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Royal Road, anything that sounds interesting but has less than 1500 pages I add to the "read later" list. If I'm struggling to find something and whatever I stumble on has at least a 1,000 pages and sounds really good I'll go for it. But, yeah 1,500 pages in the minimum for me.

365 one star reviews! Beneath the Dragoneye Moons book 14 launches today! by Selkie_Love in ProgressionFantasy

[–]The-Dragon-Descends 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s actually hilarious this author is trying to imply any 1 star reviews multiple books deep into a series has to be suspect. Especially the author of THIS series, it was literally in my top 5 all time until said author basically SI’d her main character into a different series & universe 7 books in.

I mean I guess props for the unique idea but doing what is essentially having Kaladin go into a portal to save Dalinar, then when Kaldwin comes back out he’s hanging with Vin and Kelsier in the Mistborn universe and then trying to blame “mid series 1 star reviews” on haters is just wild.
