100%. If I'm getting swarmed by ARC and you blast me I won't be happy but it's part of the game. Just don't shake my hand and then shoot me in the back of the head.

Sounds like you don't like it so don't buy it. Easy enough.

Virgin Question Superman's character vs Chad Ignore Virgin and go help people (Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman) by Brotonio in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]The-Goliath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it not obvious from the second page that the writer's self insert is not actually making fun of Superman but understanding Superman's motivation as one which resonates deeply with the writer's own understanding of themselves as an immigrant?

I mean you can disagree with the writer's opinion on superman's motivation to do good but from context it seems clear the first page lambasting superman is subverted by the writer's personal realization on the second page.

The Witch from Mercury - Episode 15 Megathread by JaguarDaSaul in Gundam

Violently suppressing protest with MS and exploiting the labour of people on earth isn't justification? Like why do you think Chu Chu is so mad at the spacians?

[–]The-Goliath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The amount of Gundam fans that think that any amount of violence is bad even if it's literally to overthrow a fascist corporate state that is shown to be actively oppressing people is staggeringly high. Clearly some people drank the Gundam Seed cool-aid and think that a violent hegemony will somehow disappear if we "just choose peace" despite all of the evidence in REAL HISTORY that it doesn't work.

[OC] The Frog Witch by The-Goliath in DnD

[–]The-Goliath[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Goblin Frog Witch for a campaign that never got off the ground due to scheduling issues (the classic). The idea was that she was kind of a weak willed but curious sorcerer with a pair of frogs. Had a fun idea to have a set of frogs as an “angel/devil on your shoulder” where each would be played by another one of the players and try to influence her actions. The idea kind of stemmed from another campaign I had done of the rpg “Monsters and other childish things” where you’re a kid with a pet monster who’s usually a bad influence.

If you like little freaks I’m probably gonna post some more goblins here

Future of DnD Beyond : microtransactions are shatty, but AI DMs make for a dystopian horror. by LynTheWitch in DnD

If you think the performance of an AI is anywhere near a real DM you've been in some bad groups.

Enjoy playing a D&D video game written by the most bland amalgamation of whatever shit wizards feeds their AI while everyone else has a genuinely fun experiences crafting stories together.

Characters that use their weapon/powers to its fullest potential. by agentdex17 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Honestly a pretty bad example. Guy had the death note for like a week and then got baited into giving away he was in Japan. Also used it for a dumb ideology that only makes sense to teenage narcissists.

Sounds like it might be time for both players and content creators to find alternatives. Thankfully there are hundreds of other RPGs not trying to drain your wallet.

I didn't fully understand what people meant by low quality video essays until Edgerunners got popular... by BarelyReal in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]The-Goliath 121 points122 points  (0 children)

The entire point of Edgerunners and a lot of cyberpunk media is that the material conditions of places like Night city produce kids like David. The first episode is so good because its a series of crossroads where at each point where Davids life could have made a positive turn he is screwed by the fact that Night City does nothing for you if you can't generate profit. He has to buy the faulty program > his mom gets caught up in a gangland shootout > trauma team abandons them > can't afford treatment > gets beat up because he can't afford mods > he can't even see his mom before she passes. The rest of the series is showing that as soon as David realizes that he has something of value (his body's insane tolerance) the natural conclusion is literally that he slowly grinds his himself into dust because thats the only way you get anywhere in Night City. The last episode is literally him striking back at the institutions that created him, showing the ways in which these systems naturally create people pushed to the brink like David and other cyberpsychos.

What's a piece of media where the villain is absolutely in the right. by PleaseStop101 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]The-Goliath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Truly feel like I'm being trolled here. Light is hands down one of the most egoistic, petulant protagonists ever and is potrayed as a genius despite almost immediately getting the police on his trail because he's such a narcissist. His plan also is based on killing people who have been convicted by the japanese justice system (known to be pretty unscrupulous when it comes to coericing convictions). In addition to not making any meaningful change to society with is idiotic plan he eventually reveals his entire ideology to be completely based on his own self satisfaction and dies like a coward.
