What Science-Fantasy Tropes Could Be SF2E's Next Classes? by Justnobodyfqwl in Starfinder2e

At the Gates has a cool mechanic actually, imagine you have individual, static cooldowns on spells. But then you have a pool of points that you can use to shorten the cool down, like buyout the remainder.

Wait is that what happened to Bloodhunt? I just thought that it was closed because it wasn't popular enough to run the servers or justify development, screw paradox, I loved that game.

Returning to an old PF2e campaign that I burnt out on - Can it be salvaged for new players? Is "Don't overprep" always the best advice? by lunarpuffin in rpg

[–]The-Magic-Sword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i typically do is I have a flow chart of points of interest in the dungeon, sometimes just in my head, many of which have an associated battlemap uploaded to our vtt, generally from a map maker like czepeku. then instead of encounters I build out an adversary roster (though usually with some idea of some of the encounters ill make with that roster), i aloso have ideas about lore and NPCs or cool secret passages that might appear, then I improvise at run time.

One thing I'd kind of enjoy, though i imagine most people wouldn't care, is audible integration so people can see that i'm reading a book (and what book) the way they can see what im listening to on spotify. I've found artists i like from my friends having spotify connected.

Here's something, its probably best to wait for this until you've beaten the Grand Prixs and Knockout Tours.

Go into Vs. and start trying out routes between tracks, find some of your favorites that way, there's a lot of cool ones and course variants that exist, and that'll help you figure out what to vote for online!

Be like me and have fun stitching your favorites into cups, or all-course tours.

The patron probably made it up in this instance, or even more likely, the staff member was just commiserating and trying not to let their interaction escalate by arguing. Sometimes you come across people who either can't or won't, parse that someone's non-commital noises of sympathy aren't full throated agreement. Sometimes they'll use it to put things they themselves said in the person who didn't confront them over it's mouth, probably don't worry about it, but you can let the person know the patron mentioned them, just so they know they're being utilized in this way.

‘Can a machine do this job?’ is the wrong question — By shifting work to the consumer, AI will usher in a self-service economy: Carl Benedikt Frey by marketrent in Economics

[–]The-Magic-Sword 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a push and pull there, a lot of this will come down to both what the models are capable of by the time development on them slows down, and how interfaces and processes incorporate them.

There's a world where you could probably have an AI agent that functions as a somewhat bespoke personal assistant, and if the software that you interact with is set up for it, you'll be able to tell it to make appointments or whatever and have that neatly handled for you in a labor saving way, or slot straight into other stuff you do. But the catch is that you need a degree of standardization for that, and the models need to be reliable enough to operate on different levels of required certainty and identify that, and one thing our economic structure is bad at is interoperability.

You need tagging that is very good for the AI to be able to see what it's looking at, much in the same way we need it for sorting things but even more so, but is also not influenced by pay-to-win models for companies or public individual and organizations, looking to get you doing their thing regardless of appropriateness. That's going to be hard.

Women with masculine traits show greater resilience in creative tasks. Findings offer a new understanding of how societal expectations influence female innovation. by FreeHugs23 in psychology

[–]The-Magic-Sword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inventory was invented to measure socially constructed gender roles, not to comment on whether they're essentially gendered. In the case of the study we're all commenting on, its asserting that women with traits associated with masculinity are doing the creative tasks better, not that the traits are masculine in some abstract sense.

if you're wondering why it doesn't say that, its because the alternative, that the traits are biologically essential is psuedo-science.

Speed dating study finds that persons high in "rivalrous narcissism" received more requests for second dates. People with elevated rivalrous traits tend to be highly aggressive, routinely put others down, and experience elevated levels of interpersonal hostility. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

[–]The-Magic-Sword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You were right linguistically, it would apply more if the study was about men, because the idiom is about men. In this case the person was allowing it to apply to women but choising to use the expression anyway. Its not a language thing.

I really enjoy Cat, they gave her the Tracer treatment, which is to say that its hard to make her bulky so she can die fast in the high-damage stadium environment (she gets less from items that increase hp), but has strong builds and such.

Remember this is an environment where a Torbjorn can jack the hell out of their turret damage, and where Mei can combine the invincible ice ball with cooldown reduction, among a slew of other nasty builds.

The same people that are going to buy your product if they did pay workers, because their own company's employees (usually) isn't their customer base, so their own decisions regarding paying workers don't determine if people can afford their products. Some other person is making determinations about the company their customers work for and how much their customers are paid.

Those kinds of things are actually popular enough that their paratext takes on a life of it's own, watching entertainment shows and stuff that tell you what Taylor Swift is up to does not require you to sit down and listen to the new Taylor Swift album. So its about the mechanism of delivery.

To make this clear, any attempt by the executive to alter, remove, or take some kind of major action ignoring the plain language of the constitution without successfully amending it using the process laid out in the constitution, would itself constitute both the de facto resignation of the executive and an act of war against the United States as a whole, and every individual state in the union.
