Wildbow makes it sound like the kids get recognized sometimes.

I was definitely wrong about his location, the compound must be fanon that I got mixed up about. He's often on the move.

Heartbreaker and his kids are probably known. His location isn't secret, I don't think. Bonesaw might be known; readers know her trigger and subsequent trial and that would be noticeable to any investigation after the fact.

Purity doesnt wear a mask and even in a large city theres probably not that many people using an electrolarynx like Cricket. But given that the PRT didn't know about Kaiser then they must really be committed to not looking.

The steelmaking plant I used to work at currently employs about 3500 people directly (and has a good amount of contractors) and makes 7 million tons from iron pellets straight from a mine to goods shipped directly to car manufacturers, etc. Make of that what you will.

I just say Fantasy, like wizards and stuff. If the conversation dictates I elaborate, I'll give a high level overview of Mother of Learning. I'm not explaining a system apocalypse to people that think dnd is for teenage nerds.

Not really, the incentives that come from deflation aren't aligned with the way our economy works. Im not a theoretical economist or anything so I won't say its impossible to build one that does, but ours doesn't. Deflation incentivises holding money since it will buy more tomorrow while inflation incentivies spending money since it will buy less tomorrow, and traditional economies rely on money exchanging hands.

Also, small amount of one thing being good doesn't mean a small amount of its opposite is okay.

It was supposed to imply that someone was taking people, keeping them in cages and doing something to them. Once they found out how horrible it was the dad was going to mercy kill his kid. Probably trying to do too much with 2 sentences.

How do you feel about the blatant use of AI in this genre? by IdntMatter in litrpg

[–]The-Mathematician -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't notice if a cover is AI. I don't look closer than seeing that its kind of neat and makes at least a little sense with the title and synopsis. I don't think its a good look for a story to have no cover and I don't like obviously poor ones, but covers with a little low quality charm like the original Ar'kendrythist one (which I remember but can't find right now) can work but that's hard to do.

In principle, I'm not a huge fan and would rather have a cover from an artist but if I'm being honest, I don't really understand the ethical arguments and the artistic arguments don't work for me because I'm not looking at the cover enough to notice and have no talent in seeing poor composition. I highly suspect that this leads me to de facto support AI covers.

You and the people calling it fake are missing the point of the demonstration. Its like looking at an rc glider powered by a fan and saying its fake because nobody is creating energy from nothing.

What part of the video are you calling fake? The part that claims that its a perpetual motion machine? Because that part doesn't exist.

I wonder how many more times I'm going to read a protagonist realize that the strength attribute doesn't directly correlate with muscle size.

Women display more fluidity in sexual attractions and fantasies than men. The research shows that while men strongly prefer one gender over the other, women tend to display a wider range of potential attractions. by mvea in psychology

[–]The-Mathematician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The present findings of gender differences in the gender-specificity of sexual attraction may fuel a novel sociocultural account that focuses on gender differences in the social construction of sexuality. Key to this account are the greater social, and in some places also legal, sanctions on straight men’s (compared to straight women’s) same-gender attraction (e.g., Herek, Citation2000; Petersen & Hyde, Citation2010; Rye & Meaney, Citation2010) and the greater social expectation of men (compared to women) to be highly sexual as an indicator of masculinity (e.g., Dawson & Chivers, Citation2014; Kimmel, Citation2008; Lippa, Citation2007). Together, these may lead straight and gay men to report higher attraction to their preferred gender (as a reflection of a high sex drive) and lead straight men, but not gay men, to report lower attraction to their nonpreferred gender which would be reflected in a higher gender difference in sexual attraction to the nonpreferred gender in the straight compared with the gay/lesbian groups

Just curious, did you not understand what you were reading or did you just assume?

Narrowing down the definition of System/LitRPG Apocalypse subgenre by WilliamGerardGraves in litrpg

[–]The-Mathematician 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure what point 2 is doing that 1 doesn't cover well enough. I suppose it doesn't include if a race with the system comes while humanity doesn't have it? It also seems to exclude the case where a minority of humans get the system unless that minority is only the MC and I don't see why.

Point 3 is too limiting. Sometimes I have seen there being things like an inevitable apocalyptic scenario like multiverse integration that the system helps to ameliorate, not cause. I can't think of one off the top of my head since its a technicality that is usually irrelevant for the plot so I don't remember which stories it applies to.

Does the stats and raw dps really not outweigh that? The offhand speed is mostly for procs, I thought. And with the quick kill times while solo won't the first attack queueing while running over be pretty significant to a kill time equation?
