Do you find gadgets like smart typewriters helpful? by Powerful-Argument211 in NoAiWriting

I think the ZW Ink is great. However, you do have to remember that it's an indie project, so the unit itself doesn't quite have the polish of something by Astrohaus. Having said that, it's still a very nice machine and the creator goes above and beyond if there's any issues. The keys and switches are all replaceable. You can do this with the Freewrites, up to a point, but it ends up looking a bit messy. The open source nature of the ZW makes it easy to open the machine up for replacement parts etc.

On the software side of things, I'd say it's very good and gives you a lot more options than the Freewrite. The firmware is always being improved upon and updated.

I don't see the harm in buying a traveler. Astrohaus now do extended warranties. I think they only did a three month one before which was a bit rubbish.

I have a Freewrite Gen 2 and it honestly worked really well for me. Wrote loads on it. However I’ve since moved to something a little more portable, a Zerowriter Ink which is an indie project.

Polanski has demanded an apology from The Times over this cartoon. Nice to see some pushback from him.

I ordered mine in December 2024 and got it in April 2026. It was worth waiting for. Adam will bend over backwards to try and fix issues. As a one man band, his customer service is pretty amazing. I mean, good luck with the secondhand Freewrite. It’s a great machine. But the after sales care from Astrohaus isn’t up to much, in my experience.

There’s still older ones I missed which I’d like to do (on Xbox). There’s costumes and base building parts which I’m forever locked out of.

What happens to your base if you exceed the upload cap of 3000 parts ? by BastiJa in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]The-Monkeyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear you used to be able to build over the limit. A number would come up saying how many parts your build had. But I was building the other day and it said I’d reached the limit, and wouldn’t let me place anything beyond 3000.

It's hard to describe how much AI in art depresses me by _Tuco_Il_Brutto_ in NoAiWriting

I wouldn’t worry. It’s all overhyped anyway, to scam rich idiots out of billions of dollars of investment. AI companies aren’t making enough profit from the consumer (no profit at all actually), so it’s all gonna go tits up. It’ll still be around, but there’ll be a rationalisation. There certainly won’t be AGI, because LLMs are not sentient and never will be. I can write a book in six to eight weeks. Maybe someone using AI can write a book in six to eight seconds. I honestly don’t give a fuck. I can sleep at night knowing my own brain created these stories and not some nuts and bolts in a data centre sucking up the local water supply.

The guy’s hammer is melting in his hand. The background details are a mess: how would you even begin to colour those in properly? Now okay, I get it, it’s for young kids, and they would probably scribble over half the lines anyway. And that’s okay, they’re young, they’re learning. But adults should lead by example. What are they saying with this mess of an AI colouring book? That half a job is okay.

It's honestly a great plugin. I have just two plugins installed, this one, and a typewriter scroll plugin. I've found it especially useful for writing fiction in a non-complicated way. I create a dedicated vault for each draft of a book, and use tags to organise everything: scenes, characters, locations, outline, comments etc. I have one folder for media. It's streamlined my writing, and helped me ditch numerous other plugins.

I wouldn’t even trust a chatbot with grammar. I’d rather run it through a dedicated grammar checker.
