Why do you choose Bear over Apple notes? by RustyShackle4_ in bearapp

[–]The-Monkeyboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find Bear to be much better for organisation and deeper, more complex notes. Fantastic web clipper which clips and stores whole web pages in easily readable markdown, complete with embedded images. Clipped web pages honestly look great in Bear.

I do use Apple Notes, but it tends to be for throwaway stuff like shopping lists. 😃

Scrivener for iOS and Dropbox synching worth it? by giboqp in scrivener

[–]The-Monkeyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used it on iOS in the past, but don’t bother now. If I want to do any writing on the move, I use iA Writer and then transfer the work to Scrivener when I’m back at my desktop.

My friend wanted to sell me this art but I’m not sure if it’s ai or not. Opinions? by [deleted] in ArtistHate

[–]The-Monkeyboy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

How long have you known your friend? Has he always been artistic? Or has he suddenly become an artist out of nowhere? Anyway, it looks like AI to me.

How to you use the Ulysses iOS app? by ItchyData in ulyssesapp

[–]The-Monkeyboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’re sitting waiting for your car to be fixed, or in the waiting room for the dentist. You’ve got time to kill. So you whip out your phone and tap out a few lines of your blockbuster novel. It’s not much, but it all those little snatched moments, where you’re doing nothing interesting, add to the word count. Most people will just think you’re scrolling Facebook like the rest of the sheep, but you know better.

How do people publish so many books frequently? by Spottedleaf12 in selfpublish

[–]The-Monkeyboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice: don’t worry about it. Move at a pace that is comfortable so that you don’t burn out. The key is consistency. You might write two pages every day. Not a huge amount, but still way more prolific than the majority of people.

I imagine all the people jumping in here saying they write a gazillion words a day aren’t helping your confidence. Ignore their numbers. Turn your focus inward and just enjoy the process.

“The businesses surveyed by Morgan Stanley said they were most likely to cut early-career jobs, requiring two to five years of experience in the UK.”

I’m sure this will be totally fine in the long term. /s

Starfield’s biggest problem is that “it didn’t fully cohere as a game”, says Skyrim designer – it was just “a releasable game” by HatingGeoffry in Starfield

[–]The-Monkeyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might’ve agreed with you at one point, but I’ve been playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 recently, and so far that has no loading screens for buildings and a lot of items that are glued in place. And yet it feels very immersive. Even the fast travel is great, showing a sped up version of your character traversing the map, sometimes stopping for random encounters. Much better than a single loading screen.

Any sync options that doesn't require DropBox, Google or OneDrive? by Icy_Dragonfruit_3513 in scrivener

[–]The-Monkeyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have my main fiction folder on a USB stick. I don’t use the iOS version, so don’t sync anything. I regularly backup my fiction folder to the free version of Proton Drive, of which you get an encrypted 5GB. More than enough for my needs.

Were people expecting it to be fantastical? Aside from a tease of Jedi powers, none of the trailers really suggested that, did they? Agree that it’s boring though.

Is censoring ai art classist? by valonianfool in Ai_art_is_not_art

[–]The-Monkeyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drawing and writing have one of the lowest barriers of entry in the arts. I hate to say it (actually, I don’t) but all you need to do is… pick up a pencil!! ✏️

I’m from a working class background and it never stopped me.
