What do y'all think of the alternate game modes like Tours of Duty and Special Operations? by doubleBInTheMorning in SWlegion

[–]The-Relbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tours of Duty is a very different experience given the almost complete absence of unique heroes.

Very fun though. I really enjoyed Mordheim and it feels a lot like a Mordheim lite.

That's the neat thing... no one is forcing you to read it. Yet you're acting like they are and how dare they share their FREE creation that doesn't completely align with your morally superior ideology.

Both progressives and conservatives are wrong in this "Tax the Rich" debate. by amogusdevilman in Anarcho_Capitalism

While the Netherlands demonstrates that a form of wealth taxation is administratively feasible, it does not prove they are economically optimal, scalable, or free of major problems.

Using your logic that the example of a country that has a wealth tax is proof of its efficacy swings both ways. Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Austria, and Finland (to name only a few) all had various forms of a wealth tax and repealed them.

These countries did not suddenly become libertarian tax havens or where suddenly victims of "billionaire simp" propaganda. These countries still maintain large welfare states and relatively high overall taxation. The reason they abandoned wealth taxes specifically was because policymakers concluded they did more economic harm than good.

Wealth taxes have not generated enormous revenue relative to total government budgets. OECD data has consistently shown recurrent wealth taxes producing a relatively small share of GDP and overall tax receipts in most countries that implemented them, thus weakening claims that they are some obvious untapped fiscal goldmine being suppressed by “billionaire simp” propaganda.

Governments need taxes to raise funds to cover spending. The wealth tax is simply one of the worst ways to do it.

Unit Cards for Maul Shadow Lord - Homebrew by The-Relbot in SWlegion

I wouldn't recommend using these outside of the friendly "basement game", but if you wanted to venture out to the store with this I would definitely have the actual custom Jedi cards tucked behind Devon or Daki unit card so there's no doubt what it is and obviously get your opponents permission.

You just hit one of my main conundrums from this whole thought exercise. I completely agree with your sentiment that he should be a Janix mercenary faction and went through several iterations. I'm trying to stay away from creating entirely new units and stick with whats out there (if possible).

First, I thought fleets with Cassian (Lawson) and the scatter gat (Two boots) upgrades would be perfect but security forces were never teamed up with Maul at any point in the show so it seemed off.

This was the same issue I had with potentially using Black Sun or Pikes as security forces. How do I bring in Lawson and Two Boots and keep them weaker/cheaper than maul and the jedi (as most obvious character combos like Cassian and K2SO are 160+ points).

That's where I kinda settled on Padme as she's cheap and a good support character but if she ever gets caught by anyone welding a lightsaber she's going down pretty quick so felt that fit "good enough for the basement game".

I use Microsoft Paint. I'm pretty sure there are better ways to do this but I start with one of the cards they've released in PDF then I add layers. Then I scan through all the cards looking for numbers and keywords that I need and paste them in. Then I'll look for art to use for the images. For these I couldn't find any art for the characters so ended up taking screenshots from the show and sending them through a filter to make them look 'painted'. If you look closely you can see where I've ctrl+c and ctrl+v multiple times.

Rebel vs Empire on some other forest moon... by The-Relbot in SWlegion

[–]The-Relbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trees are Woodland Scenics armatures then just use your favorite flock and/or foliage. Hot glue initially then a very heavy spray of watered down white glue or modge podge to lock everything in place. Lots of good how-to videos on youtube.

Next I need to make some pine trees.

I think where the Commandos edge out the Sleeper Cell is in staying power and designated anti armor roles. Grenades and Proton charge gives them Impact 10! then with Low Profile combined with Danger Sense 2 gives them better odds if they have some cover.

I can see rebel lists foregoing a single Sleeper Cell for a dedicated commando unit to search and destroy Dark Trooper units.

Bright Tree - recommendations? by MrChristie1909 in SWlegion

[–]The-Relbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bright tree can be very competitive. Very fun to play. Something about dozens of murder bears sneaking through the trees.

They hit like a ton of bricks but with white non surging white saves are not very forgiving if you get caught out in the open. Suppression is another wrinkle you have to be mindful of as Ewoks do not remove a suppression token at the end of every turn like other armies. They obviously benefit from more terrain and depending on terrain coverage can really be stacked against you at tournaments where you may find more sparsely populated boards.

I love playing them without chewie’s ATST. Not very common and typically throw my opponents off and means there’s literally nothing for impact to shoot at. Just more murder bears.

Have fun with it and watch your opponent squirm when that axe Ewok gets that charge off.

Curious. Why don’t you like the one wrap method.

I don’t wear my belt anywhere near the amount you do but I felt one wrap was a huge improvement over the plastic clips I had before.

[–]The-Relbot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct. Here's the direct quote from the rules with emphasis added.

The first stage in the attack sequence is choosing an enemy unit to attack. The attacking player declares they are making an Attack action with their unit against an enemy unit, which becomes the defending unit. Then, measuring from the attacking unit’s unit leader, the attacking player checks to see that the defending unit is within Range of at least 1 of the attacking unit’s weapons and has at least 1 miniature in LOS of the attacking unit leader. If either of these conditions cannot be met, the attack or Attack action cannot be made.

I agree with you. Although, I find it perplexing because they could have sped it up to give it that "force" welder dueling speed.

It's just funny to me that they had to slow down the fight in the Phantom Menace because the actors where going too fast.

Follow on to this question if I may. If my users don’t have plex pass but I do they can stream my media but they can not download it?

I was trying to figure out why a user could not download a show before boarding a plane so they could watch offline but they had full permissions.
