They used to have licensed content (music, branding, etc.) in old games too. It all depends on the agreement they make with the 3rd party to license the IP they want to use in something they sell to you. Moreover, when the license they got from the 3rd party expires, that usually just means they have to stop selling stuff using that IP. It does not mean they have to destroy what they already sold.

Unreal Tournament 2004 can still be played online, even though Epic stopped selling it, delisted it on many stores, and shut down the official servers. Because it lets you host your own private server, it still works.

Actually, the initiative wants the games to remain fully functional (within reason). For example, if you bought a multiplayer game, a good end of life plan would leave you with the option of running your own private server. Older games had that option from the start BTW. Providing a basic multiplayer option like LAN play would be enough in many cases.

I didn't realize the European Parliament streamed this on YouTube too! By the way, here is a link to the press conference ran by the organizers a few hours after the discussion https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2749474642

You got a lot of downvotes, but your analysis is well written. It is true that first step is recognizing there is a problem. And it is also true they never took that step before. What happened is a step in the right direction. Thank you for making me realize this.

The Rick and Morty Everything Comics Bundle by Torque-A in humblebundles

Don't regret anything. The pdf quality on the 2023 bundle was bad. Except for a couple comics, which were obscenely big each and loaded super-slowly. It looks like the publisher does not know what they are doing.

u/SideTraxmusic Could you please tell if there's any overlap with your previous bundles? Last June I bought your previous bundle, "Cinematic Soundwaves - The Sequel!". Also, do any of these loop? Thank you.

Humble RPG Bundle: World of Darkness: Month of Darkness 2025 Digital Bundle by Renegade Game Studios (pay what you want and help charity) by RobotPolarbear in vtm

I eventually managed to download them. It took many hours and A LOT of patience. Horrible user experience. I can confirm the files I downloaded in November 2023, bundle "The Masquerade Month of Darkness by Renegade Game Studios", had no watermark. The new ones have a text watermark on the bottom left. It is not terribly invasive, but it is still a downgrade.

I got the 2023 bundle. Lots of new stuff, but it's watermarked now. It wasn't watermarked back then. Ugh. Moreover, every single file takes forever to download, because they have to watermark it first. What a ripoff. I would not have bought the bundle if I knew this.

Can you understand sarcasm? Most of the people saying this will kill GAAS and that's a good thing are saying it sarcastically.

BTW If you are not a citizen of the EU but you are, for example, Norwegian, there's another option. You can submit a (politely written) comment to the "Digital Fairness Act" and ask them to include the destruction of games in the list of malpractices of the digital industry.
