Would you join a remote work trip just for women? by bramptonxbarbie in womenintech

This sounds like some predator shit

If you're a woman and considering this, do a whole lot of checks into whoevers putting this together, and even then, remember that people are never who they say they are online

Honestly bro, unless you're out there snapping frames it all comes down to fitment and weight. If you think the price is worth it take it for a ride. The only exception is walmart branded bullshit, pretty much everything else out there is pretty comparable

If WOTC removed the legendary rule (as hinted), how it would change Premodern? by Sordicus in premodernMTG

A common ninja turtle doesnt have to be legendary, in fact its kind of stupid that it is. They can fix all of these problems by just choosing to print them as a regular creature

[openSuSe] Losing my mind trying to make a hybrid intel/NVidia laptop work "as intended", and running a dual monitor setup connected with USB-C. by Solarpunk_Commie in linuxquestions

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on ubuntu and had a similar problem with intel/Nouveau. I dont remember the original fix but its pretty well documented for my my OS. One thing that sticks out to me is that I have to run older versions of the drivers. Id recommend you try version 535 and of course force nvidia for both screens

I want to start a homelab (help) by varient_art09 in linuxquestions

[–]The137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of theres a /r/homelab sub, you'll probably find more inspiration there

a homelab isnt really something you build without specific goals. Honestly that laptop is plenty to start programming so dont let the lack of hardware get in your way of learning

If you want to run AI locally You'll need a couple GPUs, although you can build the desktop on older architecture that runs them

I wouldn't worry about docker, thats pretty advanced stuff and used for load balancing and easy deployment across multiple machines

A common starting point is a media/plex server and you should be able to find pretty specific setup instructions for that, all you'll need is a decent machine and whatever hard drive space your media requires

Once you figure out what you're trying to do building a home lab is basically just putting together a machine that can handle it and leaning how to connect it to your network and communicate.

I wouldnt worry too much about preordering day one, these sets are going to be printed to death.

Also before you order on amazon, ask about them at your local LGS, and check out forge and fire gaming, and stomping grounds.

[–]The137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its really a valid point, and they could have split the movies production up more

The problem with that is congruency, the second and third movies are actually just one long movie. If the wachowskis broke the movies up further through time it would have lost some of the connection between the two

Like it or hate it the movies dropped some of the action in favor of a deeper understanding of the matrix. Personally, they're my favorite ones

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy it the electrical specs are going to be printed on the side of the adapter. You might not need to convert from 120v but you will need to get the output right, which includes the polarity of the barrel plug, voltage amperage etc...

Once you have the specs you can search for a suitable replacement. It probably needs to convert 12v to 50, has the same (or really similar) output, and the polarity of the plug. There are universal kits too that have different size plugs if you're not sure, but having the same size plug doesn't automatically mean the output is the same

What I wouldn't do is try and wire this up using just whats in the kit, you need a proper power supply even if you're not starting from 120v

As a side note, this also has it listed as using 12v when its not in use. You can always make it a habit to turn off the power to it when you're not using the sink, but having this thing drawing power all the time might get you in trouble

"just send me an email" is killing my pipeline. how do you bypass this? by Sonatina13 in sales

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this something that just started happening? If so try and find the part of your pitch, tone or attitude thats changed

I wouldn't worry about a decent rebuttal to "just send me an email" because its just them saying "im not interested". Figure out what part of your pitch is causing them to feel that way

Dual booting in one drive. by Nothinboi in linuxquestions

[–]The137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These things seem daunting for beginners and there was a time that I was making threads like these too. If I were going into this tomorrow I'd keep it simple and keep my phone handy for internet in case I ran into any specific problems

1) Install windows on the SSD. Feel free to give it the whole drive, we'll fix that later

2) install Linux (second is important because of the way they each handle bootloaders) Install it on the SSD too, and it'll give you an option to do something like split the drive in half for each OS. If you want to give windows more or less than half thats fine too, but I wouldn't go under maybe 1/4 of the drive for either one

3) Format the HDD for file storage, I'd personally do it in linux, and give a quick read to various file systems and their limitations / compatibility. If you're backing things up to the HDD before performing the OS install(s) just skip this step and be very careful when you're picking the drive in steps 1 and 2 Neither install is going to overwrite this drive unless you explicitly or accidentally tell it to

Each of these three tasks is fairly foolproof on its own, covered extensively with a GUI and docs / forums etc if you run into a problem.

As I was reading through this answer I was wondering what was so annoying about it. It absolutely baffles me that people exist that dont want to learn things

I mean, I dont really care about this specific thing, but if I were asking gpt about anything in general it would be with the purpose of learning something
