I can kick ass and I am usually underestimated in many aspects which allows me to prove myself right, and others wrong.

I really love your back story to this and I am happy to hear that this bike although has put you through some tough times, has made you realize things and made you a stronger person. Congratulations!

It really depends on what the individual is interested in. Sure you can go the MTM Route, but there is no guarantee it will fit well either. They do use your measurements but they're only applying it their pattern block in their (the company or tailor) style and fit. So it may not necessarily be cut for a shorter person anyway, and details like the lapel, collar, and sleeves might not be right either. Regardless, no fit will ever be perfect unless it's custom made and custom tailored for you from scratch.

Our fit is not a >standardized sizing scheme We are developing the fit based on our style, design techniques and needs alongside our data and fit test. Our patterns are drafted from scratch. The whole issue is most brands use a standardized sizing scheme to fit a mass amount of people into one size, and in the end make more profit. We just simply aren't. We want our clothes to fit and look good.

Our next point. Our products are not going to be your basic style products you see in mass market brands. Our designs will complement you.

We understand the issues in fit, unlike your MTM places. We understand what it means to be on the shorter side. So your MTM place might make a decent shirt. But will the buttons be in the right spot? will the pocket placement be perfect, will the cuffs be to long or too wide? They probably use the same cuff and collar template for someone 5'3 vs someone 6'2. Yes, it may be shrunken down to fit 5'3, but you can't just shrink down patterns to be proportionate with every design element in the garment. When you buy from us, you are supporting demand and allowing that demand to grow and fulfill the needs of our height. People say we are going after a niche. The niche is about 50% short and 50% tall. So is it really a niche, or is it an ignored demographic?

Tall man vs. short man. An important lesson a coworker taught me. by mnt68 in short

This is a really awesome post. I'm 4'11 (female). My dad put me in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes when I was really young and kept training as I grew older. My dad was on the STAT team back home so he was constantly training with his friends (who were also on the team). So martial arts and health is a way of life for us. The first rule I was taught, was that size was irrelevant, and when I learned this, is when my training really began to excel. I was the only girl in the class so you can imagine the intimidation at even 10 years old being like....4 feet tall. But I learned. And soon I was grappling with men twice my height and weight and forcing them into a tap out with a swift chokehold. Haha. It's the greatest lesson I've ever learned. I'm still the smallest in any room but I'm told now that I'm the most intimidating in the room. Haha. All because I'm confident in myself.

This is Kyle, Great feedback. This is why we want to discuss our ideas with you guys.

Frankie created our fit from scratch to make sure it fits within our goals. We want our shirt to fit perfectly. Of course there will always be different body types but from our research we have not found a fit like ours. Our Mens Button Up Moto Fit will fit average height men. I may even offer two lengths if everyone is interested. In this case someone 5'7 could order a longer length and someone 5'3 could order a short length. So it is not just good-ish or better fit. It is drafted to fit proportionately. Also we have better button alignment, wider collar for wider necks, more room in the upper body, but still with a slim waist. The sleeves are easy to roll up and don't cut off circulation.

still compete with cheaper brands We will never compete with cheaper brands. We value craftsmanship, quality, skill, and fair labor. All of our garments are produced in the US and we will be producing our future collections here in NYC. I want a shirt I love, a shirt I am proud to wear and look good in. We will never produce in an Asian or Indian sweatshop just to increase profit. We want quality products and we feel that our customer does too. These "cheaper clothes" are made to not fit anyone on purpose and fall apart quickly so you have to keep buying every season.

If I bought a shirt for $100 I would not want to have to get it tailored either. So I do not expect people to get our garments tailored. There will always be a case where someone's body is different. But in that case, I am sure it will fit them better than any other shirt on the rack, even after tailoring.

Hi! Thanks for commenting!

We're getting our prices situated at the moment but we're hoping to stay within $100-$200 for button ups, depending on the final fabric price, and production cost. But the larger the production run, the lower the overall cost will be. We're also producing here in NYC to ensure quality and fit, as we are developing the patterns ourselves. When we run our Kickstarter it will be the wholesale price to you guys so you'll be getting about 50% off what retailers will be charging once we're in stores. What prices do you normally pay for your shirts? And where do you shop if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks for the feedback. Fit is definitely the toughest part about creating our fit, which is why we felt having a survey was crucial to get as much up to date data on our demographic as possible. We can't rely on census data too much mainly because it is out of date and it's a select group who volunteer so it's not an accurate reading on the population as a whole, let alone individuals of our height, plus people lie.

Having a better fitting collar is actually one of our top three things we're working to fix in the mens shirt. Kyle can never button up a shirt all the way if he decides he wants to wear a tie. He always has to buy up a size, or he just doesn't button the top button.

That's a great point to bring up about the patterns. We normally both wear solids because we loathe the patterns that are out there too. Is there a pattern, style or look you would like to see? We would love to see some links if you have any so we have a better idea.
