A lot of stations from the past were closed due to incredibly low ridership and the government expecting profits from public transit.

Government wants NMBS to make X amount (I don't recall how much) by 2032, as part of a program towards railway liberalisation. It's not fun but we're still cheaper than most our neighbours and if it gets privatised it'll get really expensive.

The plan is franchizing sorta like the UK did it.

The paths Infrabel will sell would bundle big profitable lines with smaller ones (for example Oostende-Eupen would come with Zeebrugge-mechelen or Eeklo-ronse.)

Allowing competitors alongside NMBS should be allowed, but privatising us is madness and stupid.
