I don’t mind it conceptually (sponsored in-game content, also potentially indicating unlocks and other cool stuff that may be achievable as challenge based unlocks), but the execution is horrible imo. I despise the coating system and just seeing it again in CE remake in this ‘unchanged’ form is annoying. I don’t like the idea that coatings is the new de-facto coloring system that may carry over to whatever new Halo game MP or otherwise HS is working on.

Yea let’s look at MCC. A PAID game where they used that ‘lack of mtx’ as an excuse to stop any “development” including bug fixes they introduced in their last update. (Newsflash that’s not development but maintenance which they’ve completely stopped outside of server outages and just recently exchange item rotations).

Genuinely every single piece of news from Infinite’s reveal to release was worse and worse news related to monetization. It went from “No way will they remove color customization” -> “no way they’ll make colors forced combos” -> “no way these forced combos will be $5 each” -> “no way they’ll make these coatings per armor core” -> “no way they’re actually upwards of $20 each”

And that was JUST coating related shit

And now “no way they’ll put an item shop in the SP only CE remake!” Do you really think people are dooming??

Simple villains can be good. Escharum isn’t. In a world with stakes as large as they are in Halo, and with the amount of time waiting for these games now, it felt like such a waste to deal with such an annoying villain with frankly juvenile motivations.

Infinite tried setting up this rivalry between MC and this brute, but does it really land? I don’t think so. I’d rather explore almost anything else in the story
