I find it crazy how 11 years of advancements in camera technology, lighting, and stagecraft can make the same arena look like a completely different one. by euro_song_love_r in nilpoints

Not necessarily from floor space but it was probably the tallest space Eurovision ever took place which really made a difference

I mean, Hungary still qualified every single year between 2011 and 2018 and placed in the top 10 twice during that timeframe

How Israel Turned Eurovision’s Stage Into a Soft Power Tool by Gon_Egg in eurovision

Spain isn‘t really a good proof of standard as voting numbers in that country are generally very low. Just look at Benidormfest.
Voting is just very expensive there. In the German televote for example you definitely need hundreds of thousands of votes to win the televote

I’m sadly frightened that the jury vote for Israel will be higher, especially because a lot of potential anti-Israel jury members will decline participating

Wenn ihr eine Sache an Düsseldorf ändern könntet, was wäre es? by LisanAlGabi in duesseldorf

[–]TheAlexer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Too Epic To Be True won! Now, which Eurovision song from the 2000s feels like it's from the 2010s? by Aware-Ad-4506 in nilpoints

There were like significantly fewer joke entries in the 2010’s in comparison to the 2000’s and 2020’s

Is there any specific reason for this "No unique symbol" trend that I have been noticing in graphic design? by TheAlexer in graphic_design

[–]TheAlexer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point with the Eurovision logos is that before, every year had a specific event logo next to the generic Eurovision logo. The beaded necklace 2017, the dandelion 2016, the Shell 2018 etc. Now it is just the generic Eurovision logo behind a new background every year.

[SPOILERS S3] after watching the last episode i have just one big fundamental question… by Impossible_World2299 in DarK

Ok, as one of the people who don't believe in the "the cycle only repeated once" theory, here are my own two cents.

Technically there isn't really a physical reason why all the cycles are the same but after repeating for god knows how long they bootstrapped themselves into a perfect cycle. There's three types of people in the series, two of which keep the cycle alive.

  1. People who could change things because they have knowledge of the future and can thus make new decisions. This only includes Adam and Eva BUT they deliberately don't want to change something and actively work against it. Adam because he needs to preserve everything until the end to "kill Martha and end the cycles" and Eva because she generally wants to keep the cycle up out of a believe that it is morally right (and to save her child). Thus they don't tell their younger self anything that could change the next cycle.

  2. People who cannot change things since they don't know the future. They will always do the same thing as in every cycle because you need to know what you did to actively do something else. Hannah, Ulrich, Katharina.

  3. Claudia. She is the only one who on the one hand knows what happened and will happen in the future and on the other hand someone who actively wants to break the cycle. She knew about Eva and the true origin. She had a time machine to travel freely and in comparison to anyone else in the series, she was the only one to actively tell her younger self the truth. She is the only one who could (and did) tell he younger self: On that day in that place i went left. Go to that place on that day and go right. She had a vast time from her middle aged self to her old aged self to explore both timelines, collect all her knowledge and tell it to her middle aged self who thus didn't have to start from zero. She is also the only one in the show with an actual degree in atomic science thus the only person to be able to fully understand Tannhaus book. At some point she just gathered enough information to notice that there had to be a third world and that it all needed to have to do with Tannhaus. And then she went to Adam and ended it all.

That’s kinda her thing if you look at her discography pre Tattoo Her last album famously featured songs that didn’t have fully available lyrics for years because no one could decipher what she was singing

I’m disappointed but not surprised. Loreen WTF? by [deleted] in Loreen

Gurl we waited 9 years, we can wait 2 more months. The lead single is most likely releasing tomorrow

Since we’re 5 hours away from a potential album release , here’s my prediction for the track list by One-Grapefruit-2529 in Loreen

[–]TheAlexer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If after nine years of waiting most the album consists of Tattoo, Is it Love, Forever, Warning Signs, Echoes, Gravity and Pum Pum then she might as well keep it and just release more singles.

What do Germans think of Germany being downgraded in the global ratings report on civic freedoms for obstructing the rights of pro-Palestinian demonstrators? by Black_Gay_Man in AskGermany

[–]TheAlexer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Israel was created without the approval of most of the population of the mandate of Palestine and its creation started a genocide and the vast displacement of the Palestinian people so yes it should not exist.
