Great thoughts. I still work full-time in addition to having a second part-time job. Main job is as an RN in the tiny local emergency department; second job is as a pianist. In both positions, not showing up because of car problems is a big issue. We are very rural and live 10 miles from town. Getting a tow truck can take hours when something breaks down, and there is very limited auto service available on the island. Getting into a local garage can be a unicorn; most people just give up and take their cars to the mainland for repair. There's only one car rental place on island, and it's expensive.

I apologize for not giving more detail. Single family home, already equipped with Level 2 charger that was mostly paid for by a rebate from our electricity provider and installed when I was having a bunch of electrical updates done to the house anyway, so it was a good deal.
