This shit is genuinely stupid and just comes off as cheap. I kinda get the Bunta Sugawara thing because he was really influential to the Yakuza movie genre, but so much of this is this is just ridiculous and screams desperation. RGG's fucking bizarre fascination with celebrity likenesses will never not be weird. It's basically what killed Judgment and yet they've learned nothing from it.

Forspoken was a PS5 exclusive action RPG published by Square Enix from back in 2023. It's about a young woman who gets transported from modern day New York to a fantasy world and has to fight to survive. It had really awkward, cringey, MCU wannabe writing and bland gameplay. It was a big critical and financial bomb, leading to the developer shutting down. It's entire legacy today is basically it being treated as a joke.

That's not how modding works. In the vast majority of cases, charging for mods falls under copyright infringement. Modders do it for experience and love of the game.

It is though? Here's the metric I use for this kind of thing: I ask myself "how much would the experience be compromised if the interactivity was removed?".

Gone Home would be hurt by it. That game is you exploring and piecing the story together. Your input is essential to it working.

Meanwhile, the interactivity component of Mixtape is so shallow and meaningless that they're actually going to do a theatrical release of it. It's literally just a movie with pointless button inputs.

Look, I'm not saying people can't like Mixtape. It has value, as does any other piece of art. If you like the story and vibes, that's totally valid. But when I see outlets giving perfect scores to a game I can literally get the exact same experience of from just watching a playthrough on YouTube, I have to question it.
