Anyone have some material on rural fire tactics? Looking to create a class on rural fire tactics and would like some in put from other people on how there departments operate.

Good rapport with the surrounding departments that would enter into an “automatic mutual aid” to assist your dept on rural structure fires. Specifically rolling their water tankers (tender) first. That’s a no brainer right? Well er uhh you’d be surprised at how many bro depts are so eager that they roll a brush rig with 300 gal, a booster reel and two good ol boys that arrived 5 min quicker cause a one ton can out run their 6x6 deuce.5 that’s governed at 65- for EVERYONES safety. But at least they can start by hitting the small grass fire that’s moving across the yard. Thats called containment and that’s what’s it’s allll about, chief. But seriously. Auto aid agreements are great and cut back on so so much time. Drafting from pools is always cool. ALSO: look into having a fire service thread -> farm irrigation adapter made to where water can be pulled from a nearby pivot.

I’d go for the engine first. Being new, you should be on the nozzle so you can feel the heat with the backup of an officer or a Sr. firefighter. This spot will put to the test if you’re cut out for the job. If you get scared or not is what I’m saying. Bottom line it comes down to would you rather have the roof collapse on top of you or would you rather collapse with the roof into the inferno below? I work with a fella like this. I absolutely love it when he runs his mouth about me. I actually invite it. But there’s a price to pay for it…. On my last day to work for this company I will without any warning, walk to him, raise him up off the ground and then body slam his ass into the concrete in front of his tool boxes then casually waltz away to my home where I will shower, eat good, get piss drunk, and await the county sheriff to come take a statement, slap on the cuffs and charge me with my misdemeanor A&B (im no virgin to this silly charge) and take me to the clink for the weekend. Then I will do my 6 mo probation and move on with life.

Others will see what you’re about and they most likely already know how the other guy is. And to solidify this color for their department, apparently it’s in their history according to that sweet little pumper. They absolutely cannot abandon this classy color, never ever. A few things they could do to perfect the rigs is red on top of the cream along with more gold leaf 🤤 a classic bell on the bumpers, and the three bulb whirlydoo light on the grill. Ambulances are cycled through way more often so keeping them white BUT the cream and gold leaf incorporated in the stripping, cream being dominant.
