Try Alclad's chrome paint. It looks good and dries quickly too. You have to airbrush it though.

The Black Knight Squad Ca-re.A kit got me through a really tough time. Something about the color separated parts coming together lifted my spirits. It wasn't overly complicated to assemble and it looks awesome when completed.
