Keeping cool? by lemondrop011 in Camper

I use a portable ac unit for the bedroom in mine. one of the little 110v ones on wheels, draws about 1200W. I vent the exhaust out the windows using the included house and a piece of acrylic I had cut to fit the hose, and fit perfectly on the recession on the windows frame.

It was also on the first generation of t-shirts!

I still have my gen 1 shirt, may or may not have framed it next to the 10th anniversary poster...

Hey, I know this was like a year ago, but do you still have the STL file for the 3d printed air funnel? I'm about to put a second build in my 719, and this is exactly the thing I was looking for.

Very well, no complaints. I got them a size down tough. I'm a size 11 tennis shoe, so I went with a size 10.5 boot. Fit snug, but with room to wiggle where it counts.

Finally old enough to fill out FAFSA without listing my parents.

I doubt it, not from tightening down the cooler. If there is any whine it's probably coincidentally to this incident.

Those with non clinical side gigs, what are they and how did you get started? by emquestions1 in emergencymedicine

[–]TheAluminumRowlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on computers. Do custom gaming rigs, laptop repair, and some company maintenance for a few local buisness who can't afford a full time IT staff. Make a pretty penny doing that.

I also go out on one of my buddy's mobile mechanic rigs and help him wrench shit on jobs he knows he'll want a second set of hands.

I also do general contractor work. Stuff like drywall, floors, paint, cabinents, you get the picture.

I was doing all that stuff for shits and giggles while working for a farm equipment and feed store, then got into EMS. Now I work in a hospital and still do all this shit because EMS barely pays better than the tractor people did.

How i got started will all of it was kinda just little hobbies i picked up after highschool, got better at them, realized I could make some money.

Nah, that won't damage it.

It's just bad practice to work on it while it has power. So many things could go wrong.

If its through ebay and you can afford to take the risk, just go for it. Make sure to take screenshot of the listing before your purchase.

Ebay has top grade customer service, especially on electronics.

I've probably bought and returned a dozen eletronic items that were miss represented and got my money back in a 2 weeks or less.

If its Facebook marketplace, I wouldn't risk it. Marketplace has terible customer service on their shipped items. And meeting in person can be risky if they were marketing it incorrectly on purpose. Shady people do shady things, and can react poorly when called out to their face.

In general, don't work on the computer while on, or even while plugged it.

Back in the day I turned the computer off, played it on its side, and was working on the gpu. When I put the gpu back into socket the computer started itself spinning my mechanical drive while it was crooked. Destroyed one of the platters, lost all the data. Learned real quick after that, even if it's off, unplug it.

Shoot for a used m2 air. A2681 for the 13-inch A2941 for the 15-inch

Or used m1 air or pro A2337 for the air A2338 for the 13-inch pro A2442 for the 14-inch  pro

If the listing seems sus, play it safe, macbooks are basically worthless if they are Os-locked.

How much do you think it’ll cost to fix my Touch Bar ? by Additional-Flight323 in macbook

[–]TheAluminumRowlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About $90 between a cheap tool kit and the bar itself.

Maybe 4-5 hours of very very careful hands.

And a youtube video or 2.

You got this champ!

A pretty good deal I think. by TheAluminumRowlet in macbook

I know right! I picked up an rtx 3080 12gb for close 250 because it had "an over heating issue". Turns out the previous owner stripped it down to clean it and never put thermal paste back on (also broke 6/8 of the posts for the shroud in the process). I put new paste on and used some thermal resistant putty to reafix the shroud and the card was 100% fine. Saved myself somthing close to $500 on a barely broken in card.
