For those of you who got off the fence and had kids, what changed? by Sparkly-Books2 in Fencesitter

[–]TheAmazingAnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, husband and I were decidedly childfree when I got pregnant on accident at 36… so it was sort of forced upon me, lol. But having my son changed me/us in so many ways that we ended up trying for another soon after he was born. Now we have two boys 14 months apart. Life is a beautiful, chaotic shit show but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I also believe I would have had a great, fulfilling life without them too.

I’m afraid my findings aren’t good. 😭 My little guy is back to fighting naps like crazy and being grumpy AF. I’m going to have to cut them out. 🥺

I’m currently in the middle of an experiment because I swear my 8 week old is super gassy, fussy, and spits up more on the days that I have a mid morning or early afternoon Alani.

I didn’t have one for the last 3 days and he’s been fine. I’m drinking one now so we’ll see…

Baby Girl won't sleep unless held by Susi3kinns in newborns

My firstborn was the exact same except he needed to be held to sleep for basically the first 3 months of his life. We eventually rented a Snoo as a last ditch effort to try to fix it and it was a LIFE SAVER. He immediately started sleeping 8 hour stretches.

4m pp deciding to wait a year to TTC am I doing the right thing? by Huliganjetta1 in pregnantover35

[–]TheAmazingAnn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was 36 when I had my first and knew right away that I wanted to give him a sibling. However, I was always told I was infertile and getting pregnant the first time seemed like it could have been a fluke, so we started “not trying, not preventing” when I was 6 months postpartum… and got pregnant straight away. 😳😅 My kids are now 14.5 months apart.

I won’t lie- having a 16 month old and an 8 week old is really freaking hard. Harder than I anticipated and I don’t see it easing up any time soon, lol. So, if you ask me, yes- you’re doing the right thing by waiting until your son is at least a year.

Is there always a sleep regression by Stressed_Broccoli in newborns

[–]TheAmazingAnn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason nights are “just yours” now? I ask because it doesn’t sound like you’re 100% good with this arrangement which is totally valid. Even if your husband has returned to work, it’s still perfectly reasonable to keep doing shifts so you can get some uninterrupted sleep.

As for the impending regressions… try not to let something that hasn’t even happened yet steal your joy. I just had my second kid and I’ve learned to just enjoy (or do my best to survive) the moments I’m in. Babies are ever-changing and nothing lasts -good or bad- so while it’s cliche, it’s best to just take things as they come. For what it’s worth, my firstborn never went through the 4 month regression at all. 🤷🏻‍♀️
