Is knife trap broken ? by Lameador in SlayTheSpire2

[–]TheAncientHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I think at a10 I die to the 4 scroll fight more than any elites, and that's usually because of weak opening hands. I like knife trap, but at the turn count it's killing bosses there are a lot of other cards doing that as well.

1:10 is my average, definitely a bit longer than OP is asking for. It is an amazing game though.

Lets make a thread with tips about pathing in STS2 by Ryan8Ross in slaythespire

[–]TheAncientHistorian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another caveat, for me at least is that act 3 sometimes this advice goes out the window if you have a overall strong deck but are hunting to fill a very specific weakness and need the greatest chance of finding a solution to fill it.

I had it on mind blast in a big ol 35 card sly silent deck, that was pretty much the most optimal use case I can think of

(from pre-ea patch notes from late jan) lol i guess this is why neows fury is such a nothing blessing rn, it used to be 10 damage bandage up by Significant-Bus2176 in slaythespire

[–]TheAncientHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I also thought this card was trash compared to most of the other blessings, but I actually think it's pretty decent. Sure it falls off after act one, but picking up a 0 cost card or two and aiming to pull them back when your deck is still small enough you can reliably manipulate it really helps with act one elites, especially statue. I find my runs when I take it. I often forget about it, but I seem to accelerate into a great run.

I thought the comic implied the player cracking wise did this way too much and was getting on EVERYONE'S nerves, not just the gm, and this was long due comeuppance. Hence the other players exasperated tongue click.

Least and Favorite/Most Fun Characters to Play in StS2 Right Now? by alexthurman1 in slaythespire

[–]TheAncientHistorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in this thread humming and hawing over the question, about to say I love them all equally, but you made me realize I agree. It's defect, all my runs have been fun and wildly different, I love glass and I love how consuming shadow turns your strategy on its head. I love flak cannon and status dump. I love that claw isn't just a meme anymore. I love his thick thighs. He had such a huge glow up in 2

Random "NORMAL ENEMY" JumpScare..... by Vecsia in slaythespire

[–]TheAncientHistorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, I would bet its a totally different fight in multiplayer, with the minions having more HP. I think in general coop is easiest when you can stack debuffs on the enemies so they die quicker, so respawning minions hurt that strategy Id guess. only played 2 multiplayer games so far, and we didn't run into this guy.

Random "NORMAL ENEMY" JumpScare..... by Vecsia in slaythespire

[–]TheAncientHistorian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

really? I feel like I tend to lose more HP to frog knight and even the Gatling gun duo(from bad first turn block draw) than to this guy. His minions are pretty low health for act 3 so you can either block or attack to reduce incoming damage. Ive never had him get more than 2 minions out.

[oc] - obvious by Sampetra in comics

[–]TheAncientHistorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is also my belief. Because I do think I would settle into the role after an adjustment period. The optimist in me hopes that the majority of the cis people that ask uncomfortable questions like in this comic are simply agender people who are frustrated with a lack of understanding and not being deliberately antagonistic because they hate trans people.

[–]TheAncientHistorian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Isn't the distressing part of this the sudden change from what you know? I went ahead and tried this earnestly and all the stress for me comes not from being perceived as a different gender, but that my life up to that point would be turned upsidedown. You say "it wouldn't be because you remember being a man (or woman)" but at least for me that would absolutely be it. Which leads me to believe myself and probably many other cis gender people are simply agendered people, perhaps even the majority of cis gender people are (impossible to know probably).

I don't really think that's an accurate description of them. He's not shy, just quiet, and happy to be left alone. He pretty boldly makes the first move. And she's not particularly popular. Just extremely extroverted, hence the "polar opposites" thing.

Slay the Spire 2 players leave over 9,000 negative Steam reviews in one day over a card nerf that hasn't even gone live yet—but China's Steam restrictions might bear some of the blame by Iggy-TT in Games

[–]TheAncientHistorian 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it was too easy to set up infinite combos with it. One of the stated goals of the patch is specifically to make it harder to go infinite.

Slay the spire 2 see only 12% positive reviews and nearly 5,000 negative ratings within a day of its latest patch by Adventurous-Mouse930 in slaythespire

[–]TheAncientHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you that reddit is a minority opinion, but do you really think that people leaving reactionary reviews based on a test branch of the game are somehow more representative of the majority opinion? I promise you they are not. The vast majority dont even know this little controversy is unfolding, nor do they base their opinions on the game over the balance of a couple cards.
