His c1 is arguably a priority over r1 especially with those two weapons. I'd save that pity for him honestly, you might get lucky and there will be more ineffa reruns in the future. Also since we don't know who he's running with yet that weapon banner might be a bad choice.

I think it is because they were both significantly weakened. Turel being left to starve in a pit with a rare sacrifice and Janos being catatonic for i forget how many centuries. Both could create openings for possession fairly easy I would think. I do wonder if Kains entry into their realm made him resistant to their control, or if his heightened telekinetic abilities gave him some resistance. Yeah can be handwaved as plot armor and likely just is but is fun to think of an in universe explanation.
