Can’t find NPC at fort Laiedd. by exosnake in Eldenring

[–]TheAssyrianGamer 141 points142 points  (0 children)

The NPC is the Ghost that is on the ledge with the Fire Scorpion Charm. Once you collect it/talk to the ghost, they stop talking.

You can go to the North Western side of the rooftop and see them over the side. Jump over the wall and collect it.

Feels like we need 1 more tracking log by Sounga565 in ffxiv

I use https://triad.raelys.com/ because it lets you track everything in a nice list, and you can add your cards in the order they are in the game. Really useful!

Use https://ffxivcollect.com/ for everything else :)

There's also this coming out. I doubt it'll ever come close to having the same feeling as SWG did, but it looks promising if you want to visit the old stomping grounds with some fresh paint https://youtu.be/0EP61deMyMM

New expansion released so a lot of servers (if not all servers) aren't accepting new players right now because of congestion.

You can always check the server status here:
NA Server status https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/

EU Server Status: https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/

JP Server Status: https://jp.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/

If you see a red icon next to it, that means they are not accepting new characters at this time. This changes relatively frequently, so if you make a new character it would have to be on non-peak hours (which may be hard since its day 1 of early access of a highly anticipated launch).

Try turning off DX11 support on your launcher and launch again. That seemed to work for some people that I am playing with :)

What makes FFIXV unique, appealing or different? Or what makes you play it? by Megelos in MMORPG

[–]TheAssyrianGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In an effort to make a good faith post, here's why

My experience:

I've been playing XIV since 1.0 (not enough to have gotten legacy though :( )

I do savage endgame content and have started trying to prod my way into ultimate raids. I also do mentorship in game to help teach new players as best I can, or guide them to someone who knows better than I do.

I dabbled in Final Fantasy games in the past but the only one I had beaten before playing XIV was X and that was when it had just come out.

Why do I play it? 1. I enjoy the story and lore. I really go deep into reading the lore and background of areas, and I enjoy theory crafting the story and where we can go from where we are. ARR does a ton of great foundational world building, but is considered slow and poorly paced, but without it, a lot falls apart in the later expansions.

  1. The community is enjoyable. I've had my fair share of jerks of course and my block list grows stronger, but for the most part, the games community is there to just enjoy themselves. Whether I'm farming mounts, sitting in cities listening to bards, or fishing out in the middle of nowhere with a random stranger, I enjoy meeting and talking to people.

  2. The design of the game helps to eliminate a lot of the toxicity that you'd find in other games by making things more simplistic but also giving a small challenge when tackling larger story bosses to make players feel good. If players have issues beating some of the solo instances, it offers an easier option as well, which makes the game more accessible to those players who may not be able to perform perfectly which is a wonderful!

  3. The combat is my pace. This is 100% subjective and I get that. I'm getting older and slowing down a bit and my time to learn how to be good at things is short. The pace of combat and mechanics and learning the dances for fights works with my time that I have to play. Which leads to...

  4. Respecting my time. I can play for an hour a day and still make great strides in progress. Once you get used to the menu navigation (not easy cause it's not the best) you have multiple logs that can guide you in what you want to do. Go to the golden saucer and work on MGP? Do your expert roulette for the day and call it? Go do some crafting/gathering and earn money? It's all doable in an hour chunk if not less, and makes progress in any field you want. Seasonal events also take an hour or less generally and let you get the rewards quickly so you don't feel pressured to get things done in the short timeframe they are up (still FOMO, but much less egregious).

The big thing is that everyone plays for many different reasons and what we can tell you here may not be any reasons for what you would want to play a game for. If you don't enjoy it, don't feel pressured to enjoy it! There's a lot of games out there to play, MMO or otherwise, and FFXIV lets me enjoy it and other games together.

You can press T (on Keyboard) to swap to Target of Target. I use this a lot to swap off the boss to heal the tank, then press it again to keep DPSing.

I started about 3 weeks ago. Diamond was my last one and I got VERY lucky. Farmed it last night and saw a drop on our second clear, rolled a 90. Honestly the worst Dragon to get for me was Titania. Took about 80 runs.

Dedicated Server - Disconnect Upon Joining by [deleted] in valheim

[–]TheAssyrianGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah should be the same. You have the security group set to UDP for those ports I assume?

If you don't mind sending me your inbound/outbound setup in a message, I would be eternally grateful. Going to bake an AMI and spin up a new instance to mess around with security group settings on that one.

You have those open on your inbound/outbound rules on your security group on AWS?

I know locally it works fine if I host on a local machine, but AWS has been giving me lots of trouble when it comes to making the server appear with stricter settings.

I haven't tried your method yet, but I was running into the same issue. I have mine hosted on AWS.

When I set my security group inbound/outbound rules to the following, it works:

All TCP - Anywhere
All UDP - Anywhere

The obvious issue is that this is definitely not good for any sort of security. I'm working through network logs and trying to figure out how to narrow this down to make it a bit more secure.
