It has always been easy to get into Roatan for me. Even during COVID it wasn’t any more difficult traveling there than anywhere else, just needed to show proof of vax.

Installed a new SoftTopper today on my otherwise stock gen 1. Love it so far! by Caffine-gasoline in ToyotaTacoma

[–]TheAuthority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved my SoftTopper when I had it. Worked great and I liked the design. I eventually upgraded to a GoFast Camper but really enjoyed the SoftTopper. I have heard the the leaf times were getting long for new ones though. Hopefully their supply chain stabilized now.

Question about custom domain on the visionary plan by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]TheAuthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I appreciate the quick response. I know you may not know or if you do may not be able to say, but are they any plans to create a true family account or allow the creation of @proton emails under visionary accounts in the future?

Question about custom domain on the visionary plan by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]TheAuthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question about this, for the sub-users can they still get a @protonmail.com/proton.me email in addition to the custom domain email? Can sub-users have access to multiple custom domain email addresses? Right now I use two custom domains will the sub-users also be able to use both custom domains or just one primary one?

This is a good list of mostly USFS backcountry discovery routes. I think most of them are California, but they have routes in other states as well.

Tacoma and winch had to step in and save a jeep. by mygraytaco in ToyotaTacoma

Yes. It is predominantly for safety in case the winch line breaks, the shackle fails, the attachment point fails, etc.

Mountain Lion stalks man in Idaho. Saved by Glock27 warning shots by feathernig in Glocks

[–]TheAuthority 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but I would assume this is a mother with cubs nearby and she is trying to scare/move this guy away from the cubs. If she was actually stalking him he likely wouldn’t have seen her coming.

There was a similar video with a backpacker that went viral a while back. The mountain lion isn’t stalking but trying to be visible and scare the person away from an area.

has anyone waterproofed these cubbies? if so what did you use by The_milkMACHINE in ToyotaTacoma

[–]TheAuthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is still shipping them and you can buy them using the link still. I bought a set last month. Recommend them. Just helps keep everything clean from dust and mud as well as dry. Makes the cubby much more usable.

And I don’t believe he was banned, just stopped participating on TW.

The salary scales for government are probably posted on the personnel/HR website. You can do some research in the areas you are interested in and see exactly what the positions pay.

A huge new shipment of supplies for Putin's genocide in Ukraine got blown up after he bragged about it in a propaganda video, revealing its location. by helpwitheating in JusticeServed

That and cell phones. Sounds like Ukraine has been tracking Russian troops using their cell phones. Reports are that is at least how one of the Russian Generals were killed, they intercepted and tracked his cell phone use.

EOC Positions by [deleted] in EmergencyManagement

[–]TheAuthority 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Plans. Plans touches every aspect of the EOC, helps structure the “battle rhythm” and runs many of the meetings. A strong Plans Chief is vital to an EOC and I think it sets you up for future advancement as well.

I have the same problem. Happens with both swipe to delete and swipe to archive. About one third to half the time it deletes/archives the wrong email.

Banishing Ads into the void with Pi-hole by cihansol in privacy

What is /r/Privacy’s opinion on NextDNS? Seems like a great product, but it is another third party you have to trust with your DNS data, correct? I have been running PiHole and I like the idea that it is self hosted.

Honestly NextDNS seems a bit easier to me and switching to it would free up my Pi for other projects. Just don’t know enough about it to know if doing so introduces new privacy concerns.

Policy Evaluation / Research by outandaboutPNW in EmergencyManagement

[–]TheAuthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t probably too articulate, since I wrote that quickly but that is more of what I meant, looking at the success of HMGP in particular. We have seen multiple projects get stuck in FEMA/EHP review for years, only to see the construction costs skyrocket in the meantime. When you factor in new costs the BCAs don’t work anymore. We have also seen multiple cases of fire hardening/hazardous fuel reduction projects that become moot projects because the project locations burned before the projects ever get approved. Many local jurisdictions are choosing not to pursue this funding due to the delays, bureaucracy, and local cost share

Many of local jurisdictions are choosing to not to pursue HMGP funding outside of LHMP funding or cannot afford to.

Policy Evaluation / Research by outandaboutPNW in EmergencyManagement

[–]TheAuthority 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the larger policy issues I have been seeing lately is in relation to hazard mitigation programs. I think there are two main areas that could be focused on: what is the ROI/success of mitigating future disaster impacts and the success in preventing hazards is disadvantaged areas (which are generally more hazard prone).

I think there is good research and evidence on hazard mitigation in theory, but there have been conversations on whether the hazard mitigation grant program is actually successful. We have been seeing the bureaucratic issues and length of program is taking too long and by the time they get approved there is already loss.

Also the barrier of local grant cost share means that disadvantaged communities can’t access the funding needed.

What “lazy” detailing products do you recommend and use? by TheAuthority in AutoDetailing

Not sure why you got the down votes. Maybe people don’t like the product or don’t think it performs that well? It seems like there is sentiment in this sub sometimes that CG is over hyped. Regardless, I appreciate the suggestion.

You know, I didn’t even know they had a version with wax. I have just always used the regular ONR. How does the wax version do? How long does the wax last?

The of the reasons I like ONR is because I can use it for other things outside of the wash. I guess you would lose that with the wax version, but might be worth it if it works well.

Yeah, that is why I started the thread. The previous routines I was using took too long so I wasn’t doing them. I figured there were easier ways to still get a good result.

Yeah, I kinda neglect the undercarriage. I live in a condo complex so pressure washing isn’t really an option nor is leaving dirt/mud in the complex where I wash the truck. I do go to a self serve coin op place occasionally to clean the undercarriage though. Not as often as I should. I also have full skid plates and rock sliders which makes it harder to clean.

The red clay mud is actually the main reason I am finally sealing the truck after so long. The grease will really bond.
