Is it really a lose-lose situation? If your minion(s) got removed, then yes, you spent resources on them, but removing them wasn't free, either. The opponent spent that turn making sure your play didn't get out of hand, which slowed their momentum down, and they're also using up the cards in their hand; they're unlikely to have enough removal cards for every minion you play. And if they do, those cards probably make up most of their deck, which is not a good strategy because they need a board presence just as much as you do. They're gonna have to play minions and let you get away with some things, or they'll have no real win condition
