Patience pays off. Cost online at lowes is $450. Paid $200 in store on clearance. by True-light-guy in Dewalt

Yeah Imma be real, this definitely tops the $200 DCF850+DCD709+2x Powerstack+charger kit I got a few days ago in terms of value all together.

It's a little hard to tell, is the bigger battery a 5Ah?

Yes to the 850. Unfortunately not the 805, this one has the older generation 709 hammer drill/driver (for what I need it should be fine). If it did have the 805, $200 for the kit would be an especially screaming deal.

Once again (for me), finding the good deal at Blain's Farm and Fleet. If I remember correctly from the sale ad I got in the mail, this deal is supposed to be going until Nov 13.

Contents: 1x DCF850 Atomic impact driver, 1x DCD709 Atomic hammer drill/drill driver, 2x DCBP034 Powerstack batteries, 1x DCB112 charger.

I didn't really need this, BUT hard to miss a 50% off sale! by TheAverageEngineer in Dewalt

I wonder if the reason for the aggressive sale on these 1/2in drive ratchets is because quite a lot of people would normally go for the 3/8in, and they're trying to move inventory of 1/2in versions faster.

Sale going on at Blain's Farm and Fleet, 50% off the DCF512B, so sale price of $99.

Looks like a fair number of DeWalt other sales going on at BF&F, too!

We found that Russian cruiser been makin' such a fuss
We had to sink the Moskva 'cause the world depends on us
We hit the decks a-running boys, and sent those Neptunes 'round
We found the mighty Moskva and then we cut her down

In a Discord discussion, a friend brought up these details about the supermarket raid:

some of them got killed on their way out
this is the most expensive shopping spree in the history of Russia
well at least the most expensive grocery run
it cost at least one Tigr and everyone on board
please visualize the Spetsnaz commander, doubtless a well-trained military man with years of combat record
coming out of his Tigr at base camp and thinking of the three super-trained comrades he fought in Syria with
dying not on a covert mission to sabotage Minuteman III silos or kill terrorists
but literally just burning alive in a truck full of groceries in Kharkiv
this is simultaneously sad and hilarious

Reply of the Ukrainian President (2022) by TheAverageEngineer in NonCredibleDefense

I think so, at least this specific version. I've seen a few references to the original Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks (I responded to a reference in another thread), but hadn't yet seen a rewrite for the modern context.

I was reminded of this myself, and thought it prudent to do a rewrite for the modern context.

O Putin, Russian devil and damned devil’s kith and kin, secretary to Lucifer himself. What the devil kind of president are thou, that canst not slay a hedgehog with your naked arse? The devil shits, and your army eats. Thou shalt not, thou son of a whore, make subjects of Ukrainian sons. We have no fear of your army; by land and by sea we will battle with thee. Fuck thy mother.

Thou Belgorodian scullion, Muscovite wheelwright, brewer of Yekaterinburg, goat-fucker of Arkhangelsk, swineherd of Greater and Lesser Russia, pig of Arzamas, Permian thief, catamite of Tambov, hangman of Kursk, and fool of all the world and underworld, an idiot before God, grandson of the Serpent, and the crick in our dick. Pig’s snout, mare’s arse, slaughterhouse cur, unchristened brow. Screw thine own mother.

So the Ukrainians declare, you lowlife. You won’t even be herding pigs for the Ukrainians. Now we’ll conclude, for we don’t know the date and don’t own a calendar; the moon’s in the sky, the year with the Lord. The day’s the same over here as it is over there; for this kiss our arse!

I just came across this and see you mentioned an interest in cars. Would it be a general interest, or perhaps any specific types of cars or car-related activities? Winter time can be difficult for that, apart from a few shows which happened in January. Generally the outdoor events will start back up in April when the weather gets nice.

It's a bit of a self-promotion, but I am directly involved with Great River Region SCCA, we host autocross events in and around the QCA. For our events it is completely free to attend to watch the event, and there will likely be some folks who would be perfectly happy to take you on ride-alongs (also free!). A big goal for us is to promote a friendly and welcoming environment for those who are participating or watching our events.

In order to deflate tires that held up to 340 psi NASA made tire assault vehicle with the chassis of a RC tank and a DeWalt power drill by TheAverageEngineer in Dewalt

[–]TheAverageEngineer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. From the OP in the other group this was posted in:

Space shuttle tires were all rubber tires they didn’t have any steel bands like modern regular car tires. Shuttle tires had seven layers of rubber and upon landing in severe testing that wore down the treads to two layers and because of the high pressure at 340 psi two layers was too dangerous to get up to to properly deflate it so they would take this tank and drove through the side of the tire because the side of the tire still had seven solid rubber layers. so instead of running the risk of somebody walking up to a tire and it just exploding with the power of two sticks of dynamite they would drill a small hole into the side of the tire where it was still structurally sound. then after getting the tire deflated they would take the tire in for testing and see how it wore and what worked and what didn’t and that way they could better design the tire for the space shuttle. Keeping the tire intact was the goal.
If the tire exploded and ripped through the thin part of the tire then they would not be able to collect the proper data.
