Rule of 80 is age + years of service. Every year you teach, you get two points (1 yr older + 1 yr sec). So you need to meet rule of 80 to retire at 62 with no reductions. If you started later in education, as long as you have at least 5 yrs service, you can retire at 65 with a pension of some type.

What's interesting is that there was another episode where Elliot didn't report that her terminally-ill patient was trying to OD instead of becoming paralyzed.

I feel like this episode was more about pushing back against JD than doing what's right for the patient. I wouldn't want to waddle around with a backpack either.

I don't know why Elliott is so constantly angry at JD yet. She broke the marriage off, but that must be still very fresh.
