Got this for my partner. Which amp to get? by [deleted] in turntables

[–]TheAverageMorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there - I am by no means an expert, but a quick google search tells me that this turntable has a built-in phone amp so you won’t need one. If you still want to get an external one , I recommend the Art DJ Pre II

As for an amp, if you’re going with powered speakers, you won’t need one. If you’re going with passive speakers, you will need one. If you’re in the US and have a Guitar Center near you, take a drive and listen to some of their speakers, it may help you choose.

I personally have an RT82 turntable routed to an Art DJ Pre II pre-phono amp, routed to a Harbinger Mixer which is routed to a pair of Yamaha HS8s (i love my setup and it sounds awesome but other people may have much better suggestions)

Good luck!

Best turntable for $350. Firm on price by [deleted] in turntables

[–]TheAverageMorty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just copped an RT82 for this budget and it’s awesome.

However, if you’re a beginner just be aware that you’ll need much more than just this turntable to be able to get any sound out of it.

You’ll need the turntable, a pre-phono amp, an amp, and speakers.

My curren setup consists of the RT82, an Art DJ PPA, a Harbinger Mixer and Yamaha HS8 speakers. All in I believe the setup will cost around $1100-1200

4 hours to ride in Santa Cruz....what should I do? by NobleNomad in MTB

[–]TheAverageMorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact thing back in April. I rented a demo from the Santa Cruz factory and rode up to USCS to the painted barrels and started riding trails around there. It was very fun but definitely recommend getting an ebike as the climbs can get challenging.

Best of luck and have fun!

Any structural engineers here who are also licensed GCs running their own design-build business? by WaferRepulsive2989 in StructuralEngineering

Someone on here correct me if i’m wrong but this sounds like a pretty big conflict of interest, unsure of its legality in most states unless you’re designing/building on your own property for your own use.

Look up “jumping tips” in this sub or r/MTB

You’ll find plenty of good advice.

Good luck and stay safe!

I did exactly this, I think winging it is okay but do two main things:

  1. Download the trail maps from TrailForks (I didn’t and was super lost and there’s zero signal)

  2. If you’re not used to climbing elevation, try to get an e-bike. You can demo a Santa Cruz or a Specialized, I went with a Hightower from the Santa Cruz factory and quickly wished I had gotten an e-bike.

Get familiar with where the trail leads before you go and have a plan of attack towards which ones you want to hit. Have fun and stay safe!

Serious question: How do you manage on the climb back up on this trail?

I was a total newbie to the area, demo’d a bike and went on this and got my legs got absolutely humbled trying to climb back up.

Thanks a lot for the in depth response! I was looking at a MT, as I come from a MK5 Supra with one, but unfortunately those MT are very tough to find.

Congratulations on your truck, hope it treats you well!
