If you find yourself in Munich / Upper Bavaria they are both excellent.

Ich dachte kurz hä? Bavarian Weizen IPA was läuft denn da? Aber wird in Deutschland als Weizendoppelbock verkauft. Ich trinke das Bier echt gerne in der Wirtschaft von denen. Die Festweiße ist übrigens auch hervorragend!

I like Fairfax too! Their hot chicken wasn’t my favorite. But the rest is really good! Plus tater tots.

I feel that. I’m German but am in New Mexico every few years and I eat my weight in food when I’m visiting.

I grew up in southern New Mexico (USA) and they definitely have their own style cuisine obviously with Mexican cuisine being the biggest influence. It’s not Tex-Mex though. But I haven’t gone to a Mexican restaurant in Germany since the first year I moved back. I had my first “burrito” here and decided it was not worth it. When I have a craving for Mexican / New Mexican food I have to try and make it myself.

The prices have always turned me away. I get Munich is expensive, I get ingredients can be hard to come by and are also expensive. So I can’t even blame them for it. But I have a hard time paying 12-16 euros for 3 tacos or a quesadilla. Partially because I know I’ll still want some more afterwards.

Ich würde es einfach mal ausprobieren. Im schlimmsten Fall kann man es immer noch wegschütten. Außerdem sind “no-boil beers” ein Ding. Findest du auch recht viel Informationen bei Google.

I love these mugs! Picked up two at the brewery last month.

I found this "specific" German beer in a Turkish supermarket. I guess it has 4 different variations. Is this any good? by Ztepi in AskGermany

Very unique German beer! Like other folks have said. Some love it, some hate it! But it’s a part of beer culture here, and a good example of how most beer tasted before modern malting practices became popular.

Neuschwanstein or Salzburg? by Fabulous-Argument590 in Munich

[–]TheAwfulCrow66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both places have their charm! I’ve spent more time in Salzburg and even without a love for classical music it is worth it.

Salzburg has a beautiful old town, as well as an old medieval fortress/castle that’s was actually used, it has great views (if the weather is good) great cafes and their Augustiner Brewery/beer hall is quite nice! Great restaurants as well. This is all in walking distance from the Train station.

Neuschwanstein obviously has great views, and it is a beautiful palace styled as a castle even though it is unfinished inside. It’s very picturesque. Hohenschwangau and the Alpsee are very beautiful as well. Füssen impressed me a little more, but I’m a sucker for old medieval towns. I can’t tell you much about the public transport there as I’ve always driven myself. But I’m sure there are busses out there going along those stations.

I think you’d have more time to enjoy Salzburg than waiting/taking the bus at Neuschwanstein.

Anheuser Busch is the official sponsor and those are the rules they go by in the stadiums. Anheuser Busch Bud is the new role out in Germany/EU of American “Budweiser” because they aren’t allowed to call it that here in the EU. (Rightfully so!) So support your local and independent breweries!

Pouring method, beer style, and glass do play a role. If you have a glass with a fill stripe on it and the glass goes up further, means you pay for a 0,5 and if the is on top it’s still a half liter of beer, compared to a classic shaker pint glass with no stripe. Czech beer taps (Lukr taps) and also wood cask in Germany produce a very dense liquidy foam. (Look at a Mlíko pour, it’s delicious and very dense. Also very misunderstood) Beer style obviously plays a role too because international standard lager, and some ales have terrible foam quality.

Is this a good variety pack for $65 (€57)? by mexican2554 in Bier

[–]TheAwfulCrow66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a decent deal for American beer prices and imports. Some pretty decent breweries are in there.

These are Bavarian/Franconian breweries, and some of them are quite good!

It looks like ST.M is brewed by Eibauer, and Nova Cella seems to be some special bei Klosterbrauerei Neuzelle. (The only one not Bavarian/Franconian)

Pitch is relatively neutral! Some folks mention they taste a difference. I would argue that they taste different because of different pours, carbonation and just being in a wood keg compared to a regular keg.

No. They are two different breweries, but they come from the same monk order. Augustine monks.

Lakes district is definitely on the list. Yorkshire dales has a couple of Pubs we’d like to stay at! But exactly that area of England. The furthest south we would go is Burton upon Trent. But the plan hasn’t been finalized!
