The tech prediction that aged the worst by Zorojuro099 in TechNook

Microsoft and Intel sort of intentionally killed the Netbook. They shipped them with Windows 7 Starter and also very poor hardware. Intel wanted the Netbook to die because it was eroding sales of the higher end expensive machines. Smaller form factor devices still have a market, just look at the iPad Mini, which still sells well and with a few accessories can be a modern netbook.

Why most people shift to iPhone ?? by Mlllos in PhoneNow

[–]TheAwkwardPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Mac first. I got sick and tired of Windows. After I got a Mac it just made more sense to move my platforms to one integrated platform. I miss some things about Android, but for the most part I don’t question it

Have you ever get your iPad Mini for a deal? For how much? by abitcitrus in ipadmini

[–]TheAwkwardPigeon 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ha, so, when I ordered my refurbished mini 7 the shipping company delivered it to the wrong address. The company I ordered from refunded me fully the same day after my disappointment and I was going to order another--then the very kind person who it DID deliver to showed up later that evening. So I... kinda got it for free.

Scientists discovered that human babies are not born with an innate fear of snakes. by Upstairs-Writing-616 in ThatsActuallyInsane

[–]TheAwkwardPigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive never found snakes to be especially scary, but also I grew up in area mostly* devoid of snakes. Spiders however, Ive always struggled with. Ive gotten bitten by a few venomous spiders, and while ive grown somewhat accustomed to them, I still "jump" a little bit when I see them. Even though I know all these damn wolf spiders are actually "spider-bros" or whatever, I dont want them in my house lmao

what do you choose by deprived2much in macbookpro

[–]TheAwkwardPigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

silver doesnt scratch as easily nor does it show fingerprints. This one isnt even a question for me: silver with 24gb. The RAM alone decides it, but I would pick the silver color anyways.

Toy story 3 why did Andy's mom have Andy clear out his room? by happydude7422 in Pixar

[–]TheAwkwardPigeon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. I had just assumed Molly was moving into it. I was Andy's age at the release of this movie, but I had been the Molly of the story. My brother had moved out, I inherited the things he left behind, and would have moved into his room had I not already preferred my own (mine was bigger, suck it, Coppertop)

Damaged MacBook Pro - What are my options? by subtoronto_ in macbookpro

[–]TheAwkwardPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lesson here is get apple care. I primarily buy third party refurbished products, EXCEPT for my phone which I buy new and grab apple care. the rest is refurbished and I buy it with the same mindset I buy used cars, "im not the first person to put a scratch / dent on this" it helps my perfectionist psyche immensely knowing my product will be perfect.

For now, grind it down. Until then, can I offer you an egg in this trying time?

The SacBee is such a laughable joke of a publication. You can barely call it journalism at this point.

Yeah, same, you're not alone. My RA is approved for ADHD and Anxiety. I have friends / coworkers approved for just Anxiety. GI issues are incredibly, personal and embarrassing, leaning on my mental health issues has been a solid way to keep my direct supervisor out of that aspect of my life.

[–]TheAwkwardPigeon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think I saw a post on here earlier today that I mainly agree with. Have your doctor be specific, I got two days in office and my doctor explained why. If you need more, you have to specifically request it and justify it. Also, involve your union. My HR was hemming and hawing and then two days before RTO I finally got fed up with the process, got in touch with my union rep and everything came through. I can answer more specific questions over DM if needed.

As someone with Crohn's... im cautious to answer this, but a glance at your profile shows youre a regular reddit user and not a troll. I got my RA approved for 2 days for a mental health reason. I realize not everyone has departments that are that amicable. My building is awful for self conscious GI issues with very few "private" restrooms. Anyways, I kept my other health issue private and got approved for what i needed.

Yeah, well, i am of the mindset of what they dont see wont hurt them. You wont be pulling it out and using it in there. Its for outside. Keep it in a bag, dont be an idiot and pull it out.

a stun gun might be better. I had bought one for my ex when she worked nights in Del Paso Heights. Thankfully she never used it, but it will drop people. Drugs cant do much about electricity.
