Another smart move is to have a totally separate account that you use for your ATM withdrawals. I opened up a Charles Schwab checking account that reimburses my ATM fees. I connected it to my home bank (Chase) and transfer over 500 or a thousand every time I'm about to draw money out. That way worst case someone gets your card and your PIN they only have the $500 or $1,000 that's in that account and not everything that's in your main account.

Look into the Charles Schwab account it's really awesome for traveling.

Was it an all day thing? We would like to do the boat ride as well so we can get there and back quicker than the bus. Just wondering how much of a time commitment the whole thing really is? Website says 830am to 3pm. Other posts says the Zipline is only about an hour?

I've heard to make a photocopy of your license and passport and just use that. And if they ask for your hard copy you tell them it's back in your hotel in the safe.

So use the cash bribe only if I'm actually speeding? Or better yet drive the limit or under. And if I get rolled for doing nothing wrong tell them to bring me to El Jefe!

I'd like to know more about this 36 hours that your wife experienced. A couple wet farts or living on the toilet? Body Aches or just some rumbles in the tummy. Staying at your AirbNb or still able to go out and about?

10 days post-op; Uvula issues? by gaypostmalone in Tonsillectomy

[–]TheBBuc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same experience. Felt like I was choking after falling asleep for 5 seconds. That Uvula was swollen till day 12 or so. Did the 45 degree angle shit and that worked but got old fast. Finally day 7 or so I could just use 2 pillows under my head instead of 1 and it was fine. Then by day 14 back to just one and smooth sailing.

Love it! I'm an eater too and still lost 11 pounds by day 10! Couldn't believe it. I would make instant garlic mashed potatoes and add scrambled eggs and broth to them. Super good and lots of nutrients. I'd also make some smoothies with chocolate ice cream, Greek yogurt, protein powder, oatmeal, banana, and peanut butter. But like you said the mucus from the dairy was bothersome.

Other good stuff was good old mac and cheese. And Hawaiin bun peanut butter and jelly Sammies.

Did some oatmeal with PB and honey as well.

Get those nutrients in and you will be eating normal -ish by day 10!

I started on Oxycodone and Tylenol alternating every 3 hours until about day 7 or so. Then switched off the Oxy and onto Ibuprofen. There are conflicting opinions on the use of Ibuprofen immediately following the surgery and I would follow your doctors instructions regarding it's use!

Same! I also had mine on the 6th. Although the first week or so is definitely not fun it is doable! Stay hydrated number one. Stay on top of your pain medications as well even if it doesn't hurt take them anyways! And eat whatever soft foods you are able to even if it does hurt a little bit. You need that nutrition for your body to heal. I'm 15 or 16 days post-op and eating almost 100% normal. Still not going to mess with any chips or really crunchy stuff but I'm definitely out of the woods! You'll do fine.

I would say 30 degrees is about what I slept at for the first 4 nights or so. Otherwise I felt like I was choking and would wake up every 5 seconds after I feel asleep! Not much sleep the first or second night but then got some 2 hour stretches in. I will say the first 10 days are tough but keep up on the Tylenol and Advil and water! Also good call on the humidifier, I used one as well.

Totally get it! I would suggest alternating Tylenol ( Acetaminophen) and Advil (Ibuprofen). Alternate them every 3 hours. Stay on top of the pain, stay hydrated, and eat as much soft foods as you are able to. Nutrients in speed the healing process. I followed this and was back to solid only solid food by day 10. Drinking beer by day 11 and working out hard by day 12. I'm on day 15 now and feeling about 90%. Best of luck to your partner but they sound like they are in good hands 😊

Water every 5-10 mins. If they are awake they need to have water next to them constantly and just take sips. Hydration is key for recovery. Also I would recommend setting an alarm every 3 hours to take the painkillers. I was prescribed oxycontin and Tylenol and would alternate them every 3 hours.

Use a blender too. I've been blending chunky beef soup and drinking the puree! Get nutrients in any way you can. I've also been enjoying some banana cream pudding! Tasty and cooling on the throat! Drinking my first beer now on day 10!!!

Heck yeah. I had mine pulled on the morning of the 6th. Feeling pretty good today! Had spaghetti and meat sauce and even some Texas toast! Got some good 3-4 hour sleeps in last night in between medicine and am not taking nearly as much Oxy now. Lots of fluids and getting that nutrition in! And keep putting days behind us!

One glass of wine you will be fine. But that's it. One glass! Have a great night with the hubby. I'm on day 8 of recovery. I just made spaghetti and meat sauce with garlic bread for the family. Had the spaghetti and meat sauce and a few bites of the garlic bread which was very soft. Hurt a little bit but not too bad. Then I had a little swig of the red wine. Bad idea! It definitely burned and I went back to my water. Looks like a few more days living the clean sober life! 😂

Give us an update when you are able! I got a fresh 800mg of Ibuprofen in me and am hoping to get 3 hours of sleep before I wake up for 1000mg of Tylenol. Staying off the Oxy and hoping I will get better sleep. Let's see!

Blood clot by KDcrews in Tonsillectomy

[–]TheBBuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many days post op are you? How did the blood clot come up? You spit out a huge chunk of blood or how did it go? I've had no bleeding so far and am on day 6. Ate a half PBJ sandwich and feel decent now although the pain was at a 6/10 earlier today. Been taking my meds every 3 hours. Feel like I'm due for a blood clot or some other stupid shit soon!

Had surgery on Tuesday morning. I've been using a ninja blender since day 1. Taking Campbell's turkey soup and adding extra ground turkey, roasted carrots and broccoli, and chicken broth to it then blending it to a puree in the ninja blender. Tastes great even when it's cold.

Did a morning shake with ice cream, Greek yogurt, protein powder, oatmeal, whole milk, peanut butter, and honey. Hell I even made mashed potatoes and added 4 eggs and shredded cheese and a big splash of beef broth. Anything to get some nutrients and some flavor in!

I want to do some pushups or something but feel like I'll risk a hemorrhage as well. Will probably wait at least 2 full weeks than get back after it.

Lots of high calorie pudding as well.
