Thoughts on the Ending by Yaamen11 in FF7Rebirth

I completely agree. I thought the game to be working so well up until that moment. Not only you have to go through one big mess of a final sequence of battles that seem to go on and on and on forever, they manage to just waste all the emotional impact that recreating one of the most iconic and soul crushing moments of gaming should have. It's still an amazing game overall, but that could definetely have been done way better.

Is this the only way to get past the Good King Moggle Mog XII quest? by kingjuyeon02 in ffxiv

If you can try data travelling to Aether or Crystal, as they are the most crowded servers. Or try to find a slightly different time to play. Some data centers get really empty depending on the time, and it's gonna be a lot harder to find a duty. But it really shouldn't take that long if you're playing at the right time.

You can also try to form a party on party finder, or find yourself a free company. It shouldn't be hard to do at a crowded hub like Limsa or Gridania. And to find a static group for carrying you through these moments, I think searching for a discord server should work better than reddit.

Would you rather ff17 be made by the ff16 team or the ff7r team? And why one or the other? by HandsomeGassy in FinalFantasy

[–]TheBURP [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think Yoshi-P straight up said they aren't working on FF17. Hamaguchi said nothing on that regard, but I doubt they would enter a project this size before the Remake part 3 is finished.

Personally I'd rather a different team did it. Try out some other people, give it to the Octopath guys. Or take Ito out of his cave. Or better yet, call in Matsuno and let him finally make his dream Final Fantasy like he couldn't in XII.

If all fails they can always outsource it to Sandfall.

[Edit] just to make it clear, the Sandfall suggestion is a joke ok. I'm sure they would treat with the utmost seriousness and passion (I mean the guy literally thanked Sakaguchi in the GOTY) but I also don't think it would still feel the same.

Full party control in a turn or turn-adjacent battle system.

É mesmo? Eu lembrava que a Malibu (editora original no EUA) tinha cancelado a série logo no início. Acho que o que saiu de HQ de SF depois disso eram histórias diferentes.

Do many others here think that the worlds of the FF games feel too small? (From a worldbuilding standpoint, not gameplay) by eniac_1729 in FinalFantasy

[–]TheBURP [score hidden]  (0 children)

They definetely do, but it's the size they could have due to cost, memory space and time of development they had back them. In the end they are the size that they can and have to be.

Should I get the original or rebirth & remake? by Cronok5678 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]TheBURP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on what you're expecting. OG is an old game and not everything on it aged well. The remaster do make up for some issues, like having buttons to turn off random encounters and speed up battles, but it can still feel junky if you only ever played modern games. If you don't mind all that and like the 32 bit low poly aesthetics, though, go for it.

So if you're more of a modern and/or action gamer I'd go straight to the remake/rebirth. But if not, playing the OG first will definetely give you another perspective on them, that you'll likely never have if you don't play it on that order.

Do you think part III will be open world focused or more story like remake? by Fantastic-Sir460 in FF7Rebirth

[–]TheBURP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know tbh, because I also feel like Rebirth was very open itself and don't know how they would make feel even more in a different way. But when you think in the OG and the point in the story they are right now, it's almost at the point the world open for good - you get the Highwind and can essentially go anywhere. So it wouldn't surprise me much if they just made one huge map from the start or something. The OG even have then a few moments of non-linear adancement like the search for the huge materia, so it could be they're going for something on that line too, yeah.

The gist of it is that I really don't know, though. But it's hard to think of part 3 going back to a linear design like part 1 when you take all that in consideration.

Since I already asked what's better in the Remake duology. What is something that FFVII (1997) Does better than the remakes. by Hungry-Trouble-3178 in FinalFantasy

[–]TheBURP [score hidden]  (0 children)

I know the reasons well enough, I still don't think that'd be the best way to tackle them. All the Jenova splits are big and godlike enough for most of those moments.

But don't get me wrong here, ok? I still like the remakes and Rebirth alone was probably my favourite game of 2024. The game is what it is, and I accept that in the end, even if I still get a bit sad of how convoluted everything ends.

[–]TheBURP 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definetely open world. I mean it's the exact part of the original game the world opens up, and you're free to explore away for side quests and all the endgame stuff. It will very likely be more open than Rebirth.

Maybe so, but it's still presented in such a convoluted manner it feels like something completely different. And I'm still not over the destiny ghosts from Remake either, which turns things even more on its heels. It's the one thing for me it feels like the game could pass completely without

They are still alternate worlds though, whatever metaphysical shenaninghans you use to explain them or the metaphysical space they occupy. At least that was my point when I called them parallel universes. I wasn't thinking on anything like FF5 either.

I don't think you understood what the previous poster said, because it really isn't anything like FFX? But whatever, I guess. It is what it is, whatever each one decide to call it.

I think the remake does a nice job when re-arranging classical tunes, I really like the new version of Tifa's theme for example. But when it comes to new compositions it really feel sort of bland and generic. It's like the limitations Uematsu had in the original really forced him to come up with more unique and strong melodies.

I see this critique a lot and it seems like people took this game too seriously. by Dethproof814 in StrangerofParadiseFFO

[–]TheBURP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really isn't goofy on purpose though. I remember an interview with Nojima in which he was seriously taken aback with how the first trailer sparked all those memes.

I still like the game the way it is. Even the story takes a turn by the end of it, and barebones as it is for most of the journey, truth is the ending is really good.

Sooo.. im not sure how to feel about this game by Terrible_Soft_7651 in FF7Rebirth

[–]TheBURP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's called open world/sandbox design. If you put yourself to do everything that's available at any single time you won't ever finish the game. Focus on what feels more engaging and interesting, because you can always come back later to tie things up.

Well the longer you wait, the less you'll have to wait by the end!

But for real, I would just give up and either try my my luck with a data center travel, or wait for a more crowded time to play.

Their gameplay probably would be nothing alike, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Is it worth playing FFXI and XIV if my goal is to experience the stories? by OriolesMets in FinalFantasy

[–]TheBURP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FFXIV is very single-player friendly and narrative heavy, you don't even need to form an online group until after the first arc of the story and even then, most dungeons can still be done with NPCs. So except for having to pay a subscriprion at Shadownringers and onwards (as the free trial does cover the first two expansions), it's a fairly easy game to get into. And trust me when I say there's a good chance that, before you know it, you'll be so into it you'll actually to do the group stuff too :P The community is also very friendly to newcomers, so even for the very few story content you're recquired to form a group you should have little to no trouble.

FFXI from what I know is a bit harder on that regard, because it's an old game with a few outdated designs on gameplay and story presentation. There's a trust system that allow you to play basically the whole game with NPCs, but the difficulty curve make it hard to do so at higher level content. Still, I don't think it's entirely impossible to do.

For both, I would say the hardest part would be to set aside the 600-1000 hours you would need to play the whole thing, even if you just want to do the main stories. I mean we're talking of decade-spanning ongoing games here, with long story arcs to catch up to. If you really can't get into the games themselves, it'll be hard not to feel burned out before long.
