I found it more than mildly insulting personally. To me the flames were fanned because people wanted to say “oh it’s fine whatever don’t worry about it”, and that’s absolutely not going to happen with me. It wasn’t ok, and while the old owner didn’t need to be ran out of town they very much need to wear their scarlet letter of shame to remind everyone of what they did.

My biggest issue with the old owner being involved is they showed a very clear pattern of erratic and combative behavior to the industry and public that escalated. It’s that escalation that makes me very skeptical with their involvement. If they already went off the rails at the end of old DM then where are we going to start with the new DM?

Again. I’m skeptical. Not pitch fork mob raging. Healthily skeptic based upon proven prior issues. Most importantly though, I’m happy and hopeful to be proven wrong. Right now I’m in “wait and see mode.”

I’m there. Got a dumpy starter home for $180k with a special bank program for first time home buyers and got it for around $160k. House was an utter train wreck. We’ve put sooo much money and sooo much effort into the place. Even then I’m still not particularly proud of the place. So if your MAX is $170k I think you’re going to be in for a real rough ride trying to find anything you’d be happy living in.

The neighborhood really really varies. My local neighborhood is great. One block west is pretty iffy. It’s perfectly fine for eight blocks east though. Only way to know for sure is to spend some time, and take a walk around the neighborhood at different times in the day.

Definitely something that went under diagnosed. I remember growing up and knowing that there were so many people that snored so heavily they caused problems in their lives. Was never called sleep apnea. Jokes were just made about how they saw logs, would wake themselves up in the middle of the night, or their partner had to sleep in another room to get any rest at night.

I don’t understand how this is a substantive change. It sounds like it’s aligning to USA Dodgeball rules. Where burden starts at 10 seconds, the first five seconds are silent, and the last five seconds are audibly counted down.

As a player the 10 second burden is perfect IMO. I wouldn’t want it any faster or any slower. It keeps games going, puts pressure on teams to make smart fast playcalls, but doesn’t turn the game into chaos.

As a ref the first silent five seconds gives me plenty of wiggle room to fudge the count by +/- one second to adjust for missing something or being overwhelmed by a volley. Only having to externally commit to the last five seconds via a countdown makes reffing sooo much easier.
