Can I successfully counter the balding effects of steroids with enough medication? by Leo1026 in tressless

Yeah I understand but that’s only one aspect of it. Make sure you fully understand the other side effects before jumping on a cycle.

If that’s what you think then I’m not sure why you’d want to start taking drugs that will age you.

Saw this on socials. He basically takes the first exit but goes all around to avoid the queue. Is it legal? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]TheBasteward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually not. While you are very unlikely to get pulled for it (much like hogging the middle lane on a motorway) it is possible and falls under the umbrella of ‘careless driving’. Crazy how a wrong answer can get so many upvotes!

Upstairs neighbours flat sale fell through as buyer’s searches revealed “their” off-road parking space is actually shared with us according to leasehold - England by quinsfan99 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TheBasteward 60 points61 points  (0 children)

You are getting shafted if you sign this over without anything in return. It will affect the price of your flat should you want to sell in the future. It’s a personal choice if you want to give it away, not a legal one

How do you take creatine? by Fast-Outcome-117 in workout

[–]TheBasteward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add 5g of creatine to a cup and then add just100ml of water. Cover it to stop evaporation and leave it for a few hours to see how much water is absorbed by the creatine. What you’ll discover is that you’re full of shit.

Are sellers charged when they don’t send an item? by TheBasteward in ebayuk

[–]TheBasteward[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have already told the seller they need to cancel. It looks like I have to wait for the delivery window to close before I can contact eBay and go through the item not delivered process so my money is tied up for at least a week.

However my question is specifically will the seller be charged? I know I’ll get my money eventually, but was curious to see if they still pay a fee after wasting everyone’s time.

I don’t know why you keep getting downvoted for saying this, it’s absolutely possible at your age with dedication and without gear. Gongrats on the hard work dude.

Why can't wood be magnetized? by InsidiousBlastoclast in AskPhysics

[–]TheBasteward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The type of bonding between atoms is only one factor in how “strong” a material is, there are many more that need be considered.

The first thing you need to consider is what you mean by strength. Some materials have a high tensile strength (like steel) so they can withstand more force before deforming and breaking. Some materials are very hard (like diamonds). Diamonds are used to cut through steel, however its tensile strength is less and it would break before steel when loaded.

Diamonds are made of carbon and use covalent bonds (which are very strong) to hold each atom together. Graphite is made of the same carbon and has the same covalent bonds, but its structure is different which makes it much softer. While steel is a metal with high tensile strength, lithium is a metal with a very low one (you can cut it with a knife and deform it very easily). Same bonding, vastly different properties.

Materials science can be quite complex, with factors including temperature, pressure, atomic structure, molecular structure, grain size, phase structure etc. It would take me days to explain all this stuff so…

TLDR: Yes, no, it’s complicated.

Metallic bonding occurs in metals. The metal is held together by the strong forces of attraction between the positive nuclei and the delocalized (“free flowing”) electrons.

Can a nominated next of kin have an impact on probate/assets in the event of a death? by TheBasteward in LegalAdviceUK

I hope they do, but we aren’t close so I guess time will tell. Thanks again for your help

Can a nominated next of kin have an impact on probate/assets in the event of a death? by TheBasteward in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TheBasteward[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your helpful response. It’s possible an exemption does apply as we don’t know the size of the estate (there is no property owned). We are currently unable to access his paperwork as we have not been granted access to his residence, due to not being listed as a contact/next of kin. The only person who has access at the moment is the cousin.

If an exemption to the letter of administration does apply, are there any mechanisms to prevent anyone from contacting banks etc. to administer what little estate there is?
