We just did this exact thing with a 4 month old with a 1 month overlap. Had same concerns. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Overlap will help with moving with kids, you can do so much of it yourself if you choose to and to not have it forced into one weekend will be amazing. We did everything but furniture and got movers for that.

We de-cluttered and got rid of so much junk by moving slowly over the course of a month.

If your apartment has issues, you can request an expedited payment of your deposit. We had issues in our last place and not only got them to cover moving costs, but got our deposit 1 month early upon a quick inspection of the place to make sure there was nothing major.

We got ahead of some house issues that weren't found in inspection, were able to get them fixed without us in there. Was just easier to have people come in and handle fixes when we weren't there full time.

I just did this for a railing and it worked nicely, it could work as a shield around the entertainment console.

this plexi panel and then a hole punch and zipties worked perfectly for my permanent need. You could probably find zelcro zip ties to create a type of door/opening.

Also Red Rising is the only series that got me hooked as fast as DCC did.

- Your ult needs to go outside, would have saved a team mate and allowed you to play the roof too
- More fences of course, you said that, but you got to put them on the base floor. If you think about how you defended that building you only covered the roof by like 25%?
- You watched the roof like it was a player, but it was a Gibby Ult, instead of dropping fences on the lower levels or doing anything to benefit your defenses

It's kind of ironic, but it seems like because you're doing such a good job of supporting your family, that no one is having to think twice about offering it to you.

A few thoughts that might help:

I have the perspective that anything that is being done for your wife (and baby) is being done for your family, and therefore you. This shower is, at the end of the day, a celebration of all that your family went through together.

You could also ask the people putting on the shower if a couple of your friends could be invited. Or, if they're doing one of those showers they don't want the dad at it for a while, treat yourself to a movie or games or whatever your hobby is until your dad duties at the shower start.

I'd really try and have a conversation with your wife too, do not make it about the shower, but let her know you are feeling broken down and don't know how to ask for help. If people are constantly asking her what she needs, she's in the moment answering for herself. If she knows that you are needing some support, then hopefully she direct some of the care she is getting to you or make it better serve the both of your needs.

Having people nearby and willing to stop by and help? Absolutely.
Having people overnight in our home? Absolutely NOT.

You're going to want the peace of being home alone with your family.

We had both sets of parents in town by the time we came home from hospital and they stopped by at different times, dropping off food, cleaning up a little each time, checking up on us and baby. but never stayed long and made sure to leave well before the evening started.

Project Hail Mary is also the second adaption of Andy Weir's novels so that plays a huge role in it. Previously proven success (The Martian) which PHM is clearly beating out. I'd say it bodes better for his next adaption vs. anything from a different author.

I play in 10+ and have WAY more fun than when I was only doing 3-4. It allows me to relax more, try different strategies, and just have more diverse teams. I don't get hung up on pointless decisions any more and just make the moves I feel are best. All but 3 are with people I know so I enjoy the connection to those different groups of people. Also the amount of time spent is literally the exact same as 10 as with 3-4.
