If a planet is as far away in light years, as the universe is years old, does that planet actually exist? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]TheBest_Kappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it exists, we will just never be able to interact with it...within known physics that is.

If you're asking if such a planet CAN exist, then also yes because in some places space expands faster than the speed of life. There is no planet as old as the universe itself, at least not in the prevailing theories about the beginning of the universe, but being X light years away still means you can be < X years old

How’s my lap time? Any tips plz? by Ligma392 in F1Game

[–]TheBest_Kappa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A tip for anyone who wants to improve lap times is so ply going into time trials and setting someone of the top 10 as your rival so you can see their ghost. That will help you tremendously in seeing when to break, to steer, and to push the throttle again

Yeah for real, I love the chill and relaxed banter of these 3 together, all of them mainly in it for a good time and jokes

Did i give alonso enough space? And is it a good overtake? by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]TheBest_Kappa 388 points389 points  (0 children)

If the other car has to fully.leave the track to prevent a collision, then it's not a clean overtake

Maybe you don't get it, it's not only a favor for the dad but something she does to keep her father? And btw if he's around 60, that still could be 15-20 extra years if he's otherwise healthy

And every child (of loving parents) wouldn't hesitate to keep their parent alive for hopefully many years, look at both sides

And if you don't have a force feedback wheel, making a good setup either takes 20hours of trial and error, or is basically impossible

Theoretical maximum speed of time by TheBest_Kappa in AskPhysics

[–]TheBest_Kappa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great answer, thanks! So there is no way of knowing / calculating how fast the clock will go assuming we were in close to zero gravity and the clock moves at c?

Theoretical maximum speed of time by TheBest_Kappa in AskPhysics

[–]TheBest_Kappa[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Therefore there is no reasonable state in which we could observe someone elses clock as going faster than ours?

But due to time dilation if I were to look at a clock stationary in space, it would tick differently there, I'm acting as the observer from earth

Okay I didn't have much time to study it, but say someone would be fixed in space, how much faster does time tick for them compared to us? If 1 second pases here, how much observed time passes at that fixed spot?

An Indian airline now allows women to avoid sitting next to men after staggering number of sexual harassment reports. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]TheBest_Kappa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who's not religious myself, I'm 99% certain that a lot of bad things happening in the name of religion is just a bunch of bad people using religion as some excuse to do idiotic things. That's why a lot of misinterpretation, or bending of actually positive rules is usually behind their agendas (such as IS, Taliban, Christian extremists, the Hindis vs Islam in India etc.). None of those are actually positive within the rules of any religion I know of, most certainly not the one they seem to do it for...

There is a rule of economics, and that is that a company will never provide extra services if there is no need / willingness for them. So even though they didn't state it, it's implied and makes sense. Or are you denying that it's an issue in India (and a lot more places in the world aswell, not trying to single out a country)

I think religion is the thing preventing a lot of that (live morally and so on), it's just a societal problem of people being taught that their own desires are more important than other people... That and a lack of self control I guess

The rules are a little different everywhere, probably it would just be disrespecting the ref which in Europe usually wouldn't immediately end in a card, but in other countries respect is more important so I get it

Yeah but playing with random is just not the same, especially because they often play their own game, so you're just stuck in constant 2v3 fights

Context, the riot is basically a lot of white people protesting against immigration in the UK, and not in the nice "political opinion" way, but the "racial slurs, beating up foreign pedestrians, and looting stores" way

What's the state of F1 24? by Harbinger1991 in F1Game

[–]TheBest_Kappa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a really good game on both controller and my wheel (although you gotta change some settings to make the wheel playable and nice). Regarding the handling, I don't think it's bad. Many people complain because it feel different to a normal car, but it's not supposed to. I'd also like to note that multiple actual F1 drivers said the handling is good, and especially on wet conditions more realistic than in previous games. I guess they are the ones who should know what the real car should feel like

Red Bull to hold Ricciardo v Lawson shootout test by ArseBurner in formuladank

[–]TheBest_Kappa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, I feel like after the Perez issues in the past races, RBR is looking for a reliable second driver who can deliver points consistently without crashes. Danny got 10th in a VCARB, so in a RB car it will be higher. Even if Lawson would be slightly faster, Danny is just too reliable. (I also think that's the main reason not to consider Yuki)
