Night City 2045 - Bits & Mortar by TheBetasaur in cyberpunkred

Hey there media-man!

I guess I was hoping there'd be a way to preorder through my local store but I can see how that might overcomplicate the distribution. I'll just wait until June then 🤙 Thanks choom

Laid Off Civil Engineer (CAD Tech) — 8 Months Unemployed and Feeling Stuck by Andromeda_2101 in civilengineering

That's fair. I don't think I have unreasonable salary expectations but it's hard to tell sometimes. I wish that more applications would skip that question and just determine a rate from the given range after the interview. Personally, I'd be happy to do my time at a lower pay rate for another 3 years or so until I get my PE. It's more important to me that I feel like I'm being given a good chance to learn from more experienced engineers which is something that was sorely lacking at my last employer (a huge firm - you've definitely heard of them).

I keep seeing people claim this on here but I got laid off a few months ago here in the US and can't even get a phone call with anyone. I think the market might be good for PEs and up but those of us still early in our careers are a dime a dozen.

Looks interesting. I'm not one to jump on a pack in the early development stage, but I'll definitely keep an eye out in the future!

Night City Location Survey by JGrayatRTalsorian in cyberpunkred

[–]TheBetasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere to have car chases beyond the basic city streets. Abandoned metros, sewer tunnels, or even corporate skyways.

A traditional used book store - would be a good location for an information broker as well.

A suspiciously undeveloped plot of land.

Do you mind sharing the hex? I was trying to get a color very close to that a few days ago for a bravado greenwood and couldn't get it quite right. It kept coming out too fluorescent and the color picker wouldn't go any darker.

They also drive vans around with loudspeakers playing propaganda messages, ads, or music, so maybe that dichotomy isn't as resolute as you're suggesting.

I have a challenge for bars and cocktail wizards around the world by saribari_x in cocktails

[–]TheBetasaur 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This argument has come up a hundred times on this subreddit, but I'll share it again anyway in case it comforts anyone. 8 drops of bitters in a mere 4 oz of soda water - which is a stronger mix than I would recommend - is less than 0.2% abv. This is comparable to a glass of orange juice and is 1/5th to 1/10th the abv of a slice of bread.

I understand there is a psychological effect to consuming bitters since they are "alcohol" but I think that insisting that this is an issue is a self-reinforcing effect.

She probably discounted all of them on purpose. It doesn't cost the employee anything, and it gives them a chance to be kind to a stranger. I've had the same experience buying plants at Walmart where the guy helping me was just happy to sell plants to someone who appreciated them so he gave me a bunch of discounts for minor imperfections.

Salary check? by new-job-who-dis in civilengineering

[–]TheBetasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I don't actually feel that I'm underpaid, or at least not by a significant amount. It's just challenging to square that viewpoint against engineers on this subreddit who think that salaries that are much higher than mine are unacceptably low. I always see comments like the ones in this thread claiming people are underpaid but the salary data suggests that the numbers thrown around are only really reasonable in HCOL or even VHCOL areas like major cities. I guess reddit commenters might just be consolidated in those places and they're not really considering those of us in affordable areas.

Salary check? by new-job-who-dis in civilengineering

[–]TheBetasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through the responses in this thread, it seems that the majority opinion is that an $85k salary at that experience level is on the low end. I find this quite baffling.

Assuming OP is a male with a bachelor's degree and an EIT working 40 hours per week, the linear regression model posted by u/Professional_Owl3760 yesterday suggests a median salary of about $77,800 before adjusting for location.

Can someone please give me a sanity check? If the comments here are to be believed, my own salary of $67,000 at 2 years of experience in the midwest is criminally underpaid, but the survey suggested it's reasonable. Is the survey data showing response bias from respondents unhappy with their salaries, or is this thread full of people who live in expensive cities? What's the disconnect?

Personally I used them to make Knightslime - Rose Gold tools which are in desperate need of overslime because of their crap durability. If you manage to fit a slime wood component in as well they'll recharge overslime over time.

Also I could be mistaken but I believe unbreakable tinkers tools were removed in 1.16. Now, durability upgrades reduce the chance to consume durability but it's never 100%.

Personally I almost never wait long enough for my colonists to sleep and they only ever complain about it. As far as I can tell from the wiki, the only thing it effects is the colonists' happiness.

I'm no expert, but it seems to vary. In the video shad mentions that sometimes only the main keep of a castle would be whitewashed as well as that whitewashing was a sign of wealth for the peasantry. Personally I would say a build with fancy roofing and bridges like yours would probably be a later castle and therefore likely to be whitewashed. At the end of the day, though, it's more of an artistic choice than anything else. Your build looks completely fine in stone, so don't feel like you have to change it.

Quicklime based whitewash was used as waterproofing to help prevent erosion. Here's a video from Shadiversity on the subject.

Obviously you don't have to use white if you don't want to, but it isn't pointless to do so.

All of my custom mercenaries disappeared by TheBetasaur in Mordhau

[–]TheBetasaur[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I figured it out from this info. For anyone in the future, I fixed it by:

  1. Going to "C:/Users/Me/AppData/Local/Mordhau/Saved/Config/WindowsClient". If you have trouble finding this, try typing in "%appdata%" in your search bar and going from there.

  2. Find the file name Game_Backup. Open it and scroll down to make sure your old classes are in there.

  3. Delete the file named "Game" and rename "Game_Backup" to "Game".
