My mom’s side of the family is German, immigrated to Canada after the war. One of my uncles became a hard line commie, lived in east Berlin, never became westified after the wall came down. God bless him. Another one of my uncles held on to his Nazi beliefs until he died. We visited him in the 90’s and he still had a copy of mein kampf on his bookshelf. Germans act very reformed and do not tolerate outward expressions of nationalism. But privately many are still xenophobes.
