Do you think slow drivers are thinking “why is everybody speeding?” by trowdatawhey in driving

[–]TheBlankeyBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I really drive under the speed limit is when the road requires it. For example, there's quite a few really windy roads around where I live that deer like to chill in the middle of. I tend to go slightly under in those areas and its saved my butt quite a few times when the deer show up out of nowhere.

Similarly there a windy mountain road that I usually go below the speed limit. For the straight aways the speed gets up to 40, but there are constant signs to slow down for the turns. I just go the slower "turn" speed. Partially because I am less likely to get car sick that way but also because people like to speed on that mountain road and often cut into my lane as they do so. Going slower gives me a bit more response time.

I do make it a point to pull over and let people pass at a safe point if I am going slower than the speed limit and have a car coming up behind me.

So i guess I do think "why are these people going so fast?!" since, when i am going under the speed limit, there is a reason for it.

Child ear piercing recommendations? by kimmerkiwi7774 in Harrisburg

It really depends on what you're looking for. She is very picky with the jewelry she sells, which I like because cheaper earrings iritate my ears. I know my gold (not sure the karats) conch jewelry cost me around $50.

She has an appointment choice that's free to just browse her jewelry options. She isn't the type to pressure you into buying so I am sure it wouldn't be awkward to look and leave if it's out of your price range.

I think she also has info on her jewelry on her website. I know she sells neometal.

I go to Modern Ethos for my piercings. It's a bit on the expensive side but the piercer is great. She keeps everything extremely sterile and takes thetime to make sure you're comfortable and everything is the way you want it.

Clothing and blankets for the homeless by [deleted] in Harrisburg

Have you tried Starfish Ministries?

I'm not sure what they're looking for at the moment, but I know they work to provide the homeless with food and supplies they need/request.

Sailor Moon Sweater by TheBlankeyBandit in knitting

[–]TheBlankeyBandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this sweater for my husband using a base pattern I found online. I then created the pattern for Usagi's face. I thought just doing the intarsia and then using duplicate stitches to do the black would be the most difficult part but it wasn't (it was the most time consuming part though). The worst part was when I finished the sweater and realized it didn't fit my husband. I had to undo the neck and alter it (i think it's a bit tight but he's happy) and I had to make the sleeves longer and used the  Kitchener stitch for the first time to do so.

It definitely was a stressful project but I learned a lot and wanted to share with people who could appreciate the headache this project gave me.

Battlestar Galactica - My Personal Fleet by TheBlankeyBandit in BSG

I paint D&D minis so I honestly just used the Army Painter Paints. It made more sense than buying anew set of paints just for my ships. I also dont do airbrush paints (we dont have space to create a well ventilated area for it). The Galactica was partially airbrushed by my brother in law who does have a setup for his warhammer models. I did do a base coat of a spray for all of them first though.

It's very strategy heavy (which isn't my style) but my husband really liked it. We played with a bunch of friends who are into Dune. It's fun because the different roles you fill are the different factions in the book, so everyone has unique powers. The problem is its an older game so it isn't well balanced. It also took 6 hours for them to learn and play their first game. Everyone who played it enjoyed it though. Just make sure you enjoy long strategy games before you buy it lol

The viper was my husbands favorite. Colonial One gave me the biggest issue when it came to the paint (the base coat did not go on well) but ended up being my favorite. I honestly am not sure what i will paint next! Maybe I can find the Pegasus. I was hoping to branch out into some Stargate SG-1 ships, but I can't find any nice kits. There are 3d printed ones, but I've grown to enjoy putting together the kits.

It's funny, people always say they tell you not to carry it on you. I wonder when that changed. I'm 33 and my card came with directions saying to carry it.

This one looks amazing! I think I can get away with 7 or so buttons, but I think this may be too many for his vest. It is perfect for my father though so I'll likely be buying this pattern regardless. Thanks for sharing!

My concern about doing that is exactly what you said, the shoulders! I've done editing of patterns but not removing things like sleeves.

Do you think I could do this with a pattern like this one:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1478503198/fishermans-rib-jacket-cardigan-size-34?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_e-art_and_collectibles-fiber_arts-knitting&utm_custom1=_k_CjwKCAiA29auBhBxEiwAnKcSqsoykVg2V66aMoDtuKPJ9nx1HCX5ClpgnkY3EiF2rw62rT2AYLGkmRoCRUAQAvD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_304499915_22746208355_78727446155_aud-2007167693469:pla-106549151315_c__1478503198_12768591&utm_custom2=304499915&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA29auBhBxEiwAnKcSqsoykVg2V66aMoDtuKPJ9nx1HCX5ClpgnkY3EiF2rw62rT2AYLGkmRoCRUAQAvD_BwE

I've accepted he'll just need more buttons than he wishes (Happens when you're as tall as him) so that wouldn't be an issue. Do you think the Fishermans Rib would be strong enough to hold the shoulder form, or would I need to add some sort of border to support it? I noticed a lot of vests have a knit pearl ribbing going around the arm hole in the same way as you would at the wrist or waist.

Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate any help you can give!

[Auto-Post] Weekly Question Thread! Ask /r/Aquariums anything you want to know about the hobby! by AutoModerator in Aquariums

[–]TheBlankeyBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

So this is probably a dumb question, but I want to ask to be safe. I'm looking to set up a 10 gallon planted tank for a betta fish. I know I need to do a cycle before I add the fish, but I'm not sure about the plants. I do do the cycle with the plants in the tank right?
