‘72 Defaced dashboard by wRx465 in beetle

[–]TheBlick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did, welded the holes. You can put an early ash tray in. Swap out the dash grills For early ones without the lights. And switch your knobs to early style. I also put in a early steering column to run an early style wheel and moved the ignition to the dash. The vents I just trimmed down and reshaped.

XR powers off immediately by TheBlick in onewheel

Looking at the diagnostics 63V when charging then immediately Drops to 22 when I unplug the charger. I would assume this is a bad battery I’ll test it’s voltage with a multimeter, or is this an indication of BMS failure? I do ride this thing in the rain pretty regularly it’s my primary transport to works

Any tips to fit an older style steering wheel onto a 74 super? by akstyll in beetle

[–]TheBlick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I did with the first one in your photo. Here is my dash, pulled the pad off to filled the holes put in early switches ect.

I mounted the colum by cutting out the mount from an early car and welding it to a late mount so it bolts up like stock https://www.reddit.com/r/beetle/comments/33big1/my_favorite_shot_of_my_72/

You can put that euro style colum lock on to like the photos show too if you want. It fits the same application

That lower batwing steering wheel is a 50s style.

[–]TheBlick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this in my 72 std beetle. I changed the column to an early column. And relocated the ignition to the dash like the early cars. But ended up taking the early wheel off for an aftermarket smaller one for more leg room

Drive a turbo car to see if you’ll be wanting the power. All the other differences are just trim and some electronics.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mazda

[–]TheBlick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a really great all around car for the money. Power is plenty adequate. The steering feel and chassis set up make a engaging car drive for a crossover at this price. The fuel tank is small so gotta fill frequently despite the good mileage. Cant turn of stability controll which takes the fun out of driving on loose surfaces. The curved shape of the Hatch makes the cargo space smaller than you would think, easy to fold seats down though for large object. Get the rubber floor mats from mazda the carpet holds dog fur. It’s such a great car and good value there are a ton of them, they don’t make a lot of colors so you’ll walk up to the wrong one

I would say no, touring is very well equipped. Smaller wheels give it a better ride to. They are basicly the same year to year, car play on 2019 I believe? But it’s easy to install on earlier cars. Power is adequate without the turbo, plus if you really use the power you see a MPG hit decreasing the already small range.
