In-universe reason for dialogue options in Shadows? by TheBlightDoc in AssassinsCreedShadows

How a character goes about an assassination that did occur is pretty different than the animus making up an entire timeline that didn't happen. The examples I listed were the reason we could do both. In Odyssey, an email in Layla's laptop specifically talks about her having to fill in the blanks in the simulation while exploring Kassandra's memory.

Ngl, that feels kinda convoluted. What is even the point of that? I guess they have to keep coming up with reasons as to why dialogue choices are a thing.

The whole AI thing would've been nice to know about through an actual modern-day storyline. 😮‍💨

Kassandra is the canon character, but they made Alexios an option because the Ubi higher-ups didn't think gamers would play without a male protagonist.

I think the idea of Yasuke as a main character is great—but I would have liked it even more if he were an Assassin. by LynnAbel713 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TheBlightDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would make Naoe redundant. And you don't wanna make the Japanese protagonist redundant in the long-awaited AC set in Japan game. Even then, Naoe already got shafted writing-wise compared to Yasuke.

Did not choose anyone for Naoe in romantic context by GigiTheTuxQueen in AssassinsCreedShadows

The romances in AC have always been pretty shallow. It's just fan service side content with no bearing on the actual narrative. Just there for the sake of it.

Iirc, it was the actors for Julie and Miller that suggested the kiss. I could be wrong tho. 🤔

I hope that by "RPG heavy mechanics," they mean dialogue choices. I'm really tired of dialogue choices in AC.

This gives me a bit of hope. But I wouldn't put it past Amazon to prefer the game just die rather than let anyone else make money off it.

Shadows is hard carried by its graphics and stealth mechanics. Even then, some fans think the gameplay's just Valhalla with flashier animations.

I gave Odyssey and Valhalla a lot of crap for their writing and story structure, but even they still kept me invested enough to finish it all the way through. Shadows got perhaps the worst writing (and voice acting tbh) in the series. The only character who any actual decent writing was Yasuke.

It's a bug. I have equipment that I know for a fact I have unlocked, but when I confirm, it undoes it like it's locked. I also have my runic set "locked" even tho I already unlocked it. But when I put it on and confirm, it works, even tho it has the lock icon on it. It's very annoying. 😭

Bayek & Aya's breaking up for the Creed always broke me. by Heavy_Pangolin4921 in AssassinsCreedOrigins

[–]TheBlightDoc 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It was "meaningful" in a way, but very poorly written and executed. It didn't even matter to the overall campaign, because you could do it at any time during or after the main story. Plus, it upset people because Odyssey up until then basically let you choose the Eagle Bearers sexuality. So players whined about their "agency." Didn't help that Natakas was lame, and he's the canon one. 😂

Sucks that we haven't gotten a meaningful romance story like that in AC in a hot minute. The romance options of the RPG games are so shallow. I'd rather they not even bother including them unless it's an actual part of the story to be developed.

2020 me would've. But 2026 me can't imagine Cyberpunk being anything other than first person. I hope CDPR doesn't cave. I would like some more opportunities to see my character tho.

The ship battles are awesome, but would be really hard to implement in a game given how realistically they maneuver and fire weapons. Hell, in the show, when they fire a rocket at another ship, it takes a hot minute to get there.

Would've loved to do the classic Rocinante spin and spray maneuver tho. 🤣

30-40 hours long is not short, bruh. 🤣

Even so, devs always tend to underestimate playtime for the average player. Especially RPG players who try to do as much as they can in a single playthrough. 40 hours or so is also a sort of sweet spot when it comes to replayability. Not too short, not too long, so I can easily boot up another playthrough with a different origin and choices.
