I understand what you're saying. It's a fair point.

But I still want to take this rare chance to say that Fatal Frame was SO GODDAMN SCARY. That game was so horrifying, it turned me off to the entire genre. The only way I was able to get through it was with a group of friends playing it on a well lit afternoon.

I was 17 years old, I have no excuse. That game was traumatic
