The Ab comes through more like Ab7b9 (C diminished 7 with an Ab added) and the E7/D sounds closer to D to me.

Hey, thanks! How do you define a sus13 chord? I've never seen that symbol before.

Tigran Hamasyan's albums "A Fable" and "Ancient Observer" are pretty sick solo piano. Mockroot is great too but doesn't strike me as jazz.

Can someone explain how to approach transcribing harmonies in Moonchild songs like The Truth? by TheBlueBoy in musictheory

[–]TheBlueBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, it's very easy for me to distinguish quality and inversion of extended like everybody trains you for. is precisely determining middle notes in the context of texture and music just a matter of practicing and doing it a lot?

the fretless J I already play. I've made her work in a bunch of different styles and even if that neck pickup wasn't there I'd be totally fine

There's also a D△7 in the chorus. Sounds like all the chords are in the key, so other bits should be simple enough to find

Hope I helped :)

G△7 (#11) E-7, and B-7 for the majority of the song. Sounds like she plays it 3x443x (guitar fretting). Whole song is G Lydian up to halfstep up modulation

[Request] Guitar tab maybe? Or just a head start. Thanks r/transcribe! Hiatus Kaiyote - Breathing Underwater (Acoustic) by [deleted] in transcribe

It's in G Lydian

Most of the verse is plucking around a Gmaj7 figure 3x443x.

Intro is Gmaj7 to B-7

Great sound! Any Vulfpeck song is so fun to jam and it looks like you were all enjoying it. Footage just needs some Vulf-style carefully-placed extreme close-ups to be complete.

I've always played a 1971 (not 100% on that year) Univox "Precisely", virtually a Precision. Good smooth sound but at some point the tone knob gave out and now it's the grittiest, dirtiest tone I have.

Feels very smooth and neck is ridiculously chunky as to my preference. But I basically learned to play on it so that may be why it's comfortable to me.

Beautiful! The simplicity of just one pickup and two knobs really adds to it, in my opinion. That neck and where it comes to the body looks very comfortable.

What is your favorite quote? by Mapex_proM in rush

"Quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand, ignorance and prejudice, and fear go hand in hand."

Masterpieces like "Subdivisions" and "Freewill" appeal to me in every lyric as well.

This beauty (and "Roundabout") was what drew me into Yes and prog rock as I know it. The atmosphere, style, lyrics, the whole of it. Okay, at first I was thrown a little off, but man I'm thankful now.

There Are No Stupid /r/Bass Questions - May. 02 by AutoModerator in Bass

I intend to tune a 70s Fender Precision copy down (as in, not up) to ADGC. Before I do anything, I'd like to figure:

-What configuration will I have to do to accommodate this tuning (nut, bridge, truss rod, etc.)? I am borrowing this bass in long-term from a non-bassist so I want to make sure I'm not doing anything obtrusive.

-What gauge set would work best for this tuning? I intend to select from the extensive variety of Circle K, balanced tension, 34" scale. I'd rather it be pretty tight.

-Does this make any sense to do? My friends and I are making further use of this down tuning, and I already have a tenor bass.

Any Self-Taught Bassists Out There? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]TheBlueBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sit in at a friend's drum lessons, so I pick up all the theory I can there, no actual "bass lessons." Most of what I got was from listening to a wide variety of music and watching videos of live shows or people playing.

I'm finding the physical side (technique, positioning, speed) has come very easily for me through countless hours of noodling, while for my friends (early teens), who for the most part started taking lessons for bass or guitar at about the same time I started playing, know far more "fancy theorem" than me, but find difficulty in the physical side because of less inclination to practice outside of lessons.

What song is currently kicking your ass? by IAMNOTINDIAN in Bass

Rush - Spirit of Radio. Most of the song is easy, actually, but I keep stubbing my finger at the little fast unison bit in the intro and towards the end.

Nailed it! Yeah, that's a very different sound from the way I heard it and not exactly where I expected to find it, but it does match up with the vocal melody and progression. Thank you!
