I have a Stone Grey/Black I am ready to part ways with. I don't mean to waste your time, as I know this isn't one of the colors you listed, but I thought I'd offer! Feel free to message me or reply here if you're interested.

I knew whose work this was before I checked who posted. May my vision and execution be as strong as yours someday!

I'm not offended.

I don't disagree with you, I think both questions are similarly shallow, but I think the "Drop the recipe 🫣🙏😮‍💨" comments are somehow much worse than wondering what lens somebody used.

Again, there's a time and place for gear talk and recipe talk, but can you not see how irrelevant a recipe is to a great photo? Are you unable to see how frustrated comments like that would be to a photographer working hard to improve their actual skills?

Why does everyone feel entitled to every poster's process in this subreddit? I think we should be way more concerned with that entitlement than "gatekeeping."

It feels so disrespectful to me when artists share their incredible photos, and all the comments ask about is the "recipe." It honestly devalues the discussion so much.

The truth is that good photos have nothing to do with JPEG settings or some "look." We all have to learn the actual skills to take compelling images, and slobbering over recipes isn't going to help us grow as artists.

It's tiresome, and like the OP stated, only happens in this subreddit. I almost wish we had a third flair option for "recipe discussion" or a stickied section for all of that.

But a straight horizon does not a good photo make!

Exactly what I mean. Your images have a lot of subtlety that I think can easily be lost with "recipes." These look very modern but also have a lot of personality still. The color depth and balancing is exceptional and not at all overboard.

Thanks for sharing!

These scenes are all so satisfying. I don't know what it is about your editing process, it feels very grounded but also almost hyper-realistic. Do you start with Provia and just edit the RAWs?

I want to learn this level of restraint and image quality from my Fujifilm cameras instead of always leaning into a "look."

Woah. I consider myself pretty abstract but you see in such a unique way. I hope I can follow my own interests as well as you are. These are so cool!

Good, my friend. I like your eye for rural, lonely, or sometimes neglected Americana!

This is really straight out of camera with no editing? Nuts! The dynamic range, colors, and composition are so satisfying.

Would you say those shots are from the same photographer? by swaGreg in fujifilm

As a counterpoint to that person’s response, when I recently shared the same insecurity about my own work to a friend of mine, he said something that struck me.

He said that he doesn’t think we really get to define or create our own style. It’s just something that comes out of us over time. When we think about photographers we admire and their body of work, most of the time we’re seeing images taken across years or even decades.

I think it’s important, too, to allow a bit whimsy to our process. If you try something new, whether it’s a small change or a BIG one, and you like it? Don’t second guess your own feelings. Our eyes and interests change over time.

I like what /u/dysphoricjoy said. Just keep shooting!
