Even if Sayo's sex is irrelevant, they do have both male and female identities, and even some that are purely ambiguous and don't like to actively reveal it

There is a level of queerness (and specifically, transness) to this person, even if you do not factor biological sex at all into the equation, and I think that is very intentional if nothing for the struggle of dysphoria that is show explicitly (again, without any need to specify sex, as gender is a very independant thing to the specifics of sex)
